AC blower cuts out for no reason on F10 after start up

The AC on my F10 is acting weird. While it has only happened thrice. The AC suddenly cuts out or should I say the blower for no reason for a few minutes and magically runs again. All the AC lights and switches work. The AC indicator still indicates the fan speed and changes when you press the fan speed control but no air is coming out and blower motor is silent. After about 3-5 minutes, the thing sorts itself out and works flawlessly.

It only happens 5 minutes after starting the car and once it sorts itself out, the issue no longer repeats.

Any ideas on what it could be?

My initial thought was battery. How old is the battery?
Second thought was fan itself.

Battery is 3 years old. Car is starting and running fine. It only happened a few times but it usually happens after being parked over night. You start the car, drive away. around 5 minutes into the drive, the AC blower slowly decreases speed and dies for a few minutes then starts back up after 3-5 minutes or so.

The fan speed indicator works showing what should be the real fan speed through the glitch.

You got an F10 in the PI? Nice!! Maybe i can import my car to the PI when the time comes

Anyway, the e46 guys have similar issue and it was found to be the final stage resistor. worth a check om the F10.

It's either the blower or the resistor. Good luck, let me know if you need help.

Same issue with F10

I replaced the blower motor resistor on my 2011 535i and when I started the car the air blew completely fine for about 5 seconds and it stopped again.

Any suggestions on what to look at next?
