Lowering a 520D with EDC..help!

Hi Guys,

I just got a 520D M-SPORT 2013 with EDC suspension. I want to lower the car 20-25mm. I've read that I may have problems with the EDC if I install lowering springs. Is that true?

What springs do you people suggest?

Thanks.

I've got ACS lowering springs on my car that has EDC. It's been on for several years now and I've had zero problems.

Shouldn't be a problem, lots of people in here has lowered they're f10s when they have EDC.

Thanks guys!

I'm going for Eibachs, however my car is M-SPORT, which I suppose is lower than a standard car, so will the 25mm Eibachs will do the job, I do not want it to be slammed.

Thanks again

Go with the eibachs, they have what I would call the least amount of drop. I have h&r's and my car slightly rubs on the driveway when I pull in and out. A lot of more conservative people go with the eibachs for a more refined lowered look that doesn't scream lowered. If that makes sense

ACS from what I read has the least amount of drop. Eibach's than H&R's with the more aggressive drop

I'm pretty sure it isn't lower since you've got EDC, only the M-sport suspension is 10mm lower I believe.

not sure whether Eibach's are lower than ACS having in mind that the manufacturer of ACS springs is no one else but Eibach. The technical specifications of both products are identical.

ACS says: 20mmm lower than M Sport suspension and up to 35mm than stock suspension.

According to the info here yes ACS is made by Eibach but they lower the car about 30mm whereas Eibach from about 38mm all around.

That is why we here in this forum call the ACS a subtle drop. Here's a fellow with a great example

If people are saying this, fine. But in general I can not beleive this.

Find below what Eibach Germany is saying for its springs, in this case for a F10 LCI 550i xDrive. Part Nr. is E10-20-022-02-22. Exactly the ones I have installed on my car.
I have attached the description taken from their homepage as well as all the technical specs shown on the TÜV Gutachten (official approval document). I have highlighted all relevant details here (the front and rear spring part numbers for the 550i xDrive as an example).

So it would be really good if someone has the same/similar doc from AC Schnitzer for comperison.

If you order msport with EDC the car will come with normal height springs (not low msport springs).

So I'm now in the process of lowering my F10 535i Msport with EDC (didn't even know I had it til I was wrenching on the struts...)

And..I bought some used Bilsteins B8's ugh. as well as H&R spring (new in box, used). Wish I knew ahead of time and could have just skipped the bilsteins, but I guess these will go up for sale soon.

Anyway, I guess I could try the bilstein H&R combo anyway, but then would have to code out the EDC errors correct?

Frustrating..

Update - Finished the Job! Took two days, but it's done and on the first test drive, a ton of klunking and banging sounds almost from every corner. Panicked quite a bit, stopped driving and starting analyzing what I did wrong. So, for me, the issue was the strut/shock bolts and the 3 surrounding bolts on all 4 corners!! I thought they were tight (no didn't use torque specs), but they weren't. Once that was done, ride was sublime.

But if I'm being honest, I really couldn't see a difference in ride quality before/after. I will try each of the EDC setting to see if that affects anything, but I do like the 1.25" drop up front and almost 1" drop in the rear. I assume after a month of driving these numbers should change by an 1/8 to 1/4".

Probably will drive around like this for awhile, until I figure out the whole 'coding out EDC' thing using ESYS. I really would have preferred to install the H&R springs with the Bilstein shocks.

How's is the ride on H&R?

I fitted Eibach springs to my Adaptive drive (SV2A) (2012 535D) and although the car sits lower, if feels really bouncy like the springs don't match the shocks.

its a little better in Sport mode but doesn't feel right at all

I almost always drive around in eco pro with start stop turned off, so call me 'low and slow'

haven't even tried the sport setting, but in the eco pro setting, car rides exactly as it did before and I only notice the difference in ride quality if the road is really bad and even then it only feels slightly bouncy.
