My brother just picked up a brand new 550 from the dealer today. They had 2 in stock, and their serial numbers were 50 numbers apart. The earlier one was produced in July, and the later one produced in October. Not sure when the production stopped before the new model began...

Could it be that BMW only made fifty 5 series in that 3 month span, or is it possible that the serial numbers reflect only fifty 550's produced?

In any case, the 3 year lease deal was so compelling that it he jumped on it, trading in his 2013 550 six full months before lease end with no penalty.

I was shocked to find that BMW Canada was using 49% of MSRP as the buyback after 3 years on a lame duck model, along with 1.9% interest and a five figure discount from list!

His production date was October 14th, 2016. Anybody have one produced later than that?

I'm not all that familiar with BMW's VIN numbers, but you can search bmwvin.com and randomly put in VINs to get an idea of when specific VINs were produced, or if the VIN is valid.
