Truck Hits my 550 while parked
I parked my car outside my building in Brooklyn. I park there all the time and never had a problem. I wake up the next morning and go to my car to head back to my home and when i saw my car i almost passed out.
A truck scraped two cars parked behind me and rammed into my trunk and the worst part is, he got away. Neighbors told me they heard a loud explosion and tires screeching very late at night around 4am. I drove home 45 miles away with duct tape holding the bumper up and driving EXTREMELY slow. i had 3 warnings, trunk open, rear right tail lamp malfunction and rear right signal malfunction. It also rained that night and there is little holes in the trunk where water can clearly get through. I sent it to the nearest BMW dealer and they told me it may take 2-3 months to fix. My insurance is paying the accident. I was mad someone hit my car but the cherry on top... They gave me a enterprise loaner which is a Volkswagen Jetta until my car is fixed |

That definitely sucks. Seems like we need security cameras around our cars. Small bright side. . . at least your insurance is willing to pay for a BMW dealership to fix it. I've heard some insurance companies won't pay the dealership labor rates.

I have no idea why it takes so long, i had a bunch of paint swirls on the trunk that was there when i baught the car and it took them a month and a half to get those out. They put me in a Hondai SantaFe for that wait. Terrible

It doesn't take that long. They are just sitting on the car. I bet that could be fixed in 2 weeks max if the shop had capacity to put it in progress straight away. I would check other shops.

Thats sickening to see.
2-3 months is too long for this repair. 30 days is more like it. We just had a 92yo guy take out the right side of my wifes brand new G37 and that was a 30 day at a very reputable shop. figure about 5-10 days of insurance company going back and forth "negotiating" with your dealers body shop. One thing that shocked me, even with the larger insurance companies, is a policy of using "used" parts where available. For a new car such as yours, thats BS, make sure you demand new BMW parts on this repair, but don't just assume they will do that without a fight. Last edited by tp550i; 06-02-2012 at 07:10 AM.. |

YES! Go to Martino! They're in Glen Cove and I bring my car down there anytime something happens. They're top notch, and work on Ferrari's, Lambo's Porsches', etc. They are also BMW certified collission shop, so they are at the very least just as good as your dealer, but in reality MUCH better.
