Painted Rims?

Hi. I'm a newbie here. Anxiously awaiting delivery of my 2010 535iGt (Black Sapphire) to me in Kingston Jamaica. It comes with the 15 spoke 19" rims. I've been considering switching to the V (or Y) spoke wheels of the same size but in black. Is it possible to paint these rims and will the paint stay?

Thanks.

If painted with an appropriate paint, prepped properly, it should work. Now, finding someone who can do that may be harder than you think. After all, on most wheels, it is paint. Some sand blasting, then cleaning, then painting, followed by a heat cure, and you could achieve near factory results.

No need to paint it. Plastidip it yourself. Same result, only costs $7 a can and you can do it yourself.

Hey Dinan, is that what you did to the grille and the fin spoilers?
I'm thinking rims, grille, and fin spoilers in high gloss black plus schnitzer 3pc spoiler and springs.
What do you guys think?

No problem brotha

Well I don't know if you bought the rims, grilles, and fin spoilers? But they would look great on your ride. Also, can you gift me an ACS Spoiler? LOL I always wanted one

Also, go H&R springs. Best drop, best look, better handling. Really brings out the coupè look of the GT.

Hey Dinan, I havent bought any of the goodies yet. Still waiting for this fatty girl to get shipped to me. I really like the ACS spoiler and side skirts. Thinking that the grille should be flat/ matte black instead of glossy and mebbe the same for the rims (plastidip maybe?).

Looked at the H&R site and they only referenced the 550 GT. I'm assuming that the suspension would also work on the 535 GT? And I'm not sure I understand the concept of links for the rear.

BTW, thanks for the advice and your willingness to showcase your beast as inspiration for the rest of us. Peace.

Keep in mind that the GT uses AIR springs at the rear. This is a different beast than something with steel springs. By changing the links that hold them, you can end up lowering the body, but the springs themselves (generally) do not get changed. Changing the lever arm can affect the alignment and the spring rate, though. If you want your headlights and things to work right, you want the vehicle to remain level after any suspension work is done. To me, it's just not worth the effort. I could care less what other people think of how it looks, and I can't see it while driving!
