I thought the belief was that its much more difficult to pump out much extra horses out of the N55? They've gotten it up to 410 or is this what they WANT to do?

Didnt know N55 was so tunable.. Wonder if the turbo was swapped for bigger one instead.
Nice wheels.
550 probably got a supercharger on top.
Price will be ridiculously expensive I would assume..
Good for those who cant wait and got spare cash (pro athletes and such).
Rest of us will be better off with M5 in a few years.

From BMWUSA:

"At launch, the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be available with one V-8 and one inline-6 gasoline engine. The top-of-the-range BMW 550i arrives with BMW's reverse-flow V-8 engine featuring twin turbochargers and High Precision direct injection for maximum output of 400 hp. The new inline-6 of the BMW 535i features a single twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision direct injection, and, for the first time, VALVETRONIC throttle-less intake technology. It delivers a maximum output of 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. The 535i and 550i will be available with a choice of 6-speed manual transmission, BMW's new 8-speed automatic transmission, or new 'Sport Automatic' 8-speed."

I'm pretty sure he meant (jokingly I hope) that they slapped a supercharger on top of the twin turbos.

Six hundred and twenty horsepower is nuts, I would do anything to have one of those as a daily driver.

620hp I knew this would be my next car

I have to think that's a fully built engine, new turbos, and new intercoolers. Possibly new charge pipes.

The 535i with an 8 speed sport transmission has a lot of appeal as a daily driver. I really hope they manage to tune the N55.

Indeed..
620 = just a bit more than CTS-V and ZR1...
Rumors go for next M5/6 being around 580hp mark.
I really want to see what what done to Turbos in that engine..
620 is easy to obtain with big V8 with 2 turbos these days...

So far I like everything about this car
I just hate BMW for not offering MT on 550i, come on now!!

LSD + MT = 550i's perfect marriage

Anyone got any info on this kit? (Price, release date)? Was hoping they would offer one without the carbon fiber.

Wow!!! Sick

Thank god we don't have to depend only on BMW with that hideous rear bumper on the BMW M-Kit for the 5-Series.

Look! at! that rear bumper!!!
