Has any owners experienced and mechanical issues yet? Feedback appreciated
Hi all,
I wanted to ask the early owners of the F10 if anyone has experienced any car issues yet. Specifically with the 535 - HP Fuel Pumps that plagued my 335, any issues with the Dynamic handling package or the new electric steering technology etc. Basically I'm trying to gauge if there are any features that even if you haven't experienced issues with you may have a feeling will might occur in the future. Any feedback or other general advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm looking to order a 535 shortly. Thanks -Dan |

I don't have a 535 but my 528 has no real issues except some wind noise above 70~80 km/h. Not real annoying but you can definitely hear it around the door seals. I have the comfort access with the assisted closing and that might be the culprit. Don't know yet for sure. I'm waiting to see if I can't take it anymore.
I don't like to take it in for stuff like this (NVH issues) because the mechanics/service writers usually look at you like you're crazy. But about the fuel pump... I've heard that the high pressure fuel pump issue has been addressed since a few years ago so I wouldn't worry about that. A story about the fuel pump... A friend of mine had that problem with a used 335 convertible he was going to buy. He was test driving it for a few days and on one of those days, the car stopped 10 minutes after he left his house, restarted and went for about 20 seconds and stopped... did this 2 more times and didn't start again. The dealer repaired under warranty but left a bad taste in his mouth so he ended up not buying the car... would you? He did buy a 135 convertible though. I'm glad he wasn't scared to buy a BMW from that mishap. Some square people would not buy after something like that. I know a few people like that. Last edited by ddd269; 07-04-2010 at 11:52 PM.. |

i believe the f10 535i is using the n55 engine, so the 2011 LCI 335's and X6 .35's has the same engine, try searching e90posts and xbimmer.com forums for reported issues as well...

Posted in another thread that i locked my key in the trunk when the comfort access is supposed to prevent it.
The other key fob was defective and is being replaced, but that's about it. So two key fob issues in three days, i hope this isn't the start of a downward spiral! |

Picked the car up Thursday the 1st July - now the 6th July ( a 3 month old demo car) and the car has been in the dealer for 2 days now with USB issues, main cup holder lid wouldn't open and a very annoying creaking noise coming from the centre console.
The car has the ipod / usb interface but the engineers can not find a connection so they have had to rip the car to bits. I've just been told by the dealer that they don't know why it isn't working and they need to keep the car longer.. NOT IMPRESSED with this. If they keep the car for another two days as they are suggesting, then they will have had it longer than me. Not sure what you guys think about this or what you would say to the dealer? Re the cup holder lid. When pressed the lid sticks half way up and you have to really pull hard to open it. The creaking sound is just a nit pick..but I thought I'd get it looked at whilst the rest of the stuff is being looked at. So all in all. not a great start. but in all honesty, the rest of the car feels very well built and solid.. so trying not to let this bad start to spoil the owning experience of a new car. |

Yes.. they are fab.. actually the car is very good... just takes the shine away a little when things go wrong. The dealer needs the car until Friday now so lets see what that brings.

Sorry that you're having problems. I'm sure you're anxious to drive it rather than seeing your car down.
It's not unusual for a car this high tech to have some gremlins. Don't worry too much and try to relax as stressing over it will only hurt you. Have a brew or a nice single malt and relax~ Think of it this way... Problems now = no problems later I hope this gets resolved soon. Good luck! |
