Carbon Black Question

There is one and only one reason I don't order a normal black car - - the difficulty associated with keeping swirl marks away/general care. Carbon Black Metallic actually looks like it is a very dark blue. Can anyone speak to its ease of care/propensity to show swirl marks? I know that all colors get swirl marks, you just can't see them on many lighter colors. I know that if I were to order Space Gray, I'd be as safe as could be. Anyway, comments on Carbon Black?

IMO carbon black metallic is the worst color in the world. Graphite black is the way to go

LOL So, you'd even prefer a pink, purple or orange F10?

My car is Carbon Black and it's like midnight blue/black depending upon the lighting. IMO all dark colors show swirl marks. However any of the metallic colors tend to hide them better. So if you want a black car I would stick with Black Sapphire or Carbon Black. I went with Carbon Black because other than my car I've never seen another one on the road. Just my $.02...

I'm with CobraCabbage. Mine is Carbon Black, and, yes, you do see swirl marks if you get the light at a certain angle and if you're close to the car. BUT - as soon as you're more than 10 feet away these disappear it just looks damn good. The blueish/purplish hue in certain conditions is sublime. And I've read posts on the forum where people comment about others complimenting them on the car colour - and laughed - but I've now had the same said to me. Cheesy sheepish grin as I walk away !

Agree 100%. My 550i is Carbon Black and if your face is 5ft away you can see swirls but not too bad, I had my car done predelivery by swissvax.

Once your 5ft away from the car it looks awesome and the claybar then high quality wax makes it look deep and rich. Love it.

Graphites and whites on a 550i Msport in my opinion are boring, spice it up get a color made for the Msport you wont regret it.

Love my Carbon Black M Sport, but down here in Wales it looks black most of the time, then on that one day a month it stops raining and the sun comes out you get to see the blue tint, nice.

You can see the swirls close up, but if you drive fast enough no one will notice them. If you really want an out there colour try frozen silver or grey. Another bugger to keep clean but very cool......

I love my carbon black F10 550 M Sport more than any other BMW. It is definitely easier to keep clean than a flat black or metalic black finish. But alas, it will show some swirl marks (but less than a black finish) if you use anything other than microfiber towels to clean and dry.

I had it on my 2004 M3. Beautiful. However, I park outside, and it shows swirls. If you had a proper garage and weather where you didn't have to constantly wash it, then maybe. I considered it for my 550 that's on the boat right now but decided to change and go AW.

You won't regret the look, but get ready for the maintenance.

Hi all, I am quite new to this forum and was wondering if anybody can help me out. Anybody has experience with the standard unilak/jetblack color, compared to black metallic? Does anyone have pictures so I can compare? Thanks
