Ah, I thought you meant something like auto dimming.
I don't have the remote door opener - sorry, can't help.

It's in the manual -- very easy to do, but you need the remote from the garage door to do.

It may not work for all garage door openers.

When you press both outer buttons, that clears the memory. Does that work?

If yes, then try to program the first button instead of the third button.

Here's how you do it in Canada (we have rolling code door openers), maybe it's the same where you are.

1. Erase all previous codes by holding button 1 and 3 until the light flashes.
2. Hold the button you want to program. At the same time, hold the remote button for 2 seconds, then release and repeat a few times (the remote, not the mirror) while constantly holding the mirror button, the light should change from slow flashing to rapid flashing in about 5-10 seconds. The mirror and the remote are now duplicates, but the mirror is not linked to the opener yet.
3. On the garage door opener unit, there is a program or teach button (usually an orange square button), press it, a light near the button will come on.
4. Press and release the mirror button you just programmed repeatedly until the garage door responds.

Good luck, the old style non-rolling code openers were much easier.

I did the same procedure that AVIMAX describes. However, I still could not program the homelink on the car. The problem was that the battery for the remote was too weak. Apparently more power is needed from the remote to program the car homelink than to open the garage door. After replacing the battery in the remote it worked the first time.

Step3 - The orange/red button on the actual door motor housing allows the homelink mirror to synchronize with it's rolling code.

What is the brand/model of your garage opener? If you have the manual of your garage opener, you will find a page inside it that has the instructions on how to program your car's mirror buttons. If you don't have a hard copy, you may be able to find the manual in Google search.

ok here is how i did it.. i had 2 controllers programmed on it..

1. hold the controller button and ur car no.1 at the same time..
2. wait for the lights to blink and its done.

*Be sure ur remote controll code matches the numbers allows by ur car.. Ex. Mine is a 10 code remote so it goes perfectly into the car system.

hope it helps.

Reminds me of my sister in law who drove my fully optioned e39 for the first time. I explained to her how to set everything, which buttons to use to change the position of the seats and the mirrors and so on. She happily took off just to stop after a few seconds to ask: Which button do I need to press to adjust the inside rear view mirror?
