Initially afraid of large weight gain in 550...

As a current owner of a 550, I was thrilled to find out the twin turbo V8 was there, although I was honestly shocked when I saw the weight increase of around 400 pounds.

I started to gravitate toward buying a M3 as my lease is almost up. That is, until I drove the new 550. I was greatly impressed, and the acceleration difference with my 550 was noticeable.

Really hard to fathom what an all wheel drive M5 would be like.

Buy a 550 x drive and flash it with Dinan. You'll still be well ahead and pretty decent on speed.

The 550i is putting up performance numbers almost in line with the E90 M5. Keep in mind this is with RFT tires and a civilized chassis you can live with everyday.

x2 - my '08 550i lease is up and I tried to talk myself into the M3, then drove the 535i - but after driving all 3 ended up with a new 550i. can you say Dinan tune

I would not be surprised to see a 4.4 time from 0-60 for the xDrive given the higher final drive ratio and AWD.

If you are getting a F10 to just do drag race type, the weight increase doesn't matter as much if it is properly compensated with more horsepower (actually torque is more accurate).

If you toss the F10 in windy back roads, however, you will definitely feel the negative about the weight increase........
