What are the major differences? Are they plug and play without errors on pre-LCI cars? I ask because the E60 LCI cars required a different wiring harness for the taillights.

This has been done, offer no longer available.

For PJinCA & for others who are wondering, it's plug n play, no coding of any sort or additional work required.
  1. It's a 1.5-2hour job for one guy doing both cars uninstalling/reinstalling
  2. Only 1 tool is required and that is a 8mm deep socket+ratchet(for the lighting assembles themselves- trunk liner etc is a diff story)
  3. Thicker tubes on the preLCI
  4. Larger reflector area for reverse bulbs
  5. Different LED arrangement on the outter top taillights aka signals.
  6. LCI is fresnal while preLCI is 100% smooth
  7. LCI have brighter, more defined/sharp bars, and they lose the vertical light strip the runs on the outter edge of the inner tails where the trunk meets the quarter panel. The Prelci tubes are thicker but are not as sharp/bright.

I've also noticed that the LCI signals are more pronounced from 3/4 angle, while preLCI signals are more directed towards the rear of the car, even though it's ever so slightly so.

Brightness overall is DEFINITELY brighter on the LCI's due to the type of LED reflector that is in the units.

LCI Left, PreLCI Right-
