F10 535xi H&R Lowering Springs (confirmation!!)
For those who didnt wanted to pay $700+ for RD and ACS springs specifically made for 535xi,
the H&R springs for non xdrive (part number: 28947-1) fits on xdrive perfectly fine! I just got them installed, HUGE difference in the appearance, handles ALOT better, especially on Sport+ mod!! I know everyone wanted the guinea pig to test them on xdrive, I did it for you guys! (any of course myself). My car has M-sport pkg, dynamic handling crap (confort, normal, sport, sport+), no air suspension. Here are some pictures, it will settle a little more, I think the drop is perfect for daily drive. (LAST 3 pictures are prior to drop) note: I literally got the car back from shop an hour ago, only 5 miles has been drove after the drop, installer addressed the drop will settle in a week and 100+mile driving. Enjoy! Before drop.. |

Sorry for bumping an old thread, any issue with the active dampening system afterwards?
I'm thinking of lowering my 2012 535i X drive but heard it can give me an erro message on the dash? Last edited by Roswell; 01-26-2015 at 05:30 PM.. |

I am wondering, what is the difference between non-xdrive and xdrive spring? if there is no problem using non-xdrive spring to Xdrive car, how come they make 2 different springs? I am still new about spring, please help me.

^^ good question, I'm wondering the same.
My guess is back in 2011 H&R didn't have Xdrive springs available (?), that's why OP used the non-Xdrive springs. |

Back in 2011 xDrive springs weren't available, even now not all manufacturers have an xDrive version of the springs that fit the RWD models. I'm only venturing a guess, but I don't think the model number differentiation is an issue of fit but more so the spring rate, so I'm not surprised that they would fit from xDrive to non-xDrive and vice versa and even from 550 to 535 to 528. each model has a different weight and different weight distribution as well as different weight and weight distribution of xDrive vs non-xDrive so the different models are spring rates adjusted for those distributions and weights. And if only for the fact that they advertise a certain amount of drop and if you put one spring on the wrong car the drop won't be as advertised and potentially uneven in front vs back of the car if meant for xDrive but put in non-xDrive or vice versa.

^^exactly my thought. It would be nice to have feedbacks from OP on the handling after 2-3 years on them. I got the feeling the non-Xdrive spring rate are much softer.

Apologize for bumping the old thread. I am thinking of doing this on 535xD using Eibach springs.
Something that concerns me is that the struts for xDrive are different than the non-xDrive cars, thus statement "they are the same" is not correct. Of course, the springs will fit physically, the construction is the same, but the parameters are different. The xDrive has different springs because of the riding height, as people who go for xDrive usually use some alternative roads where the height matters. |

I installed a set of xDrive specific H&R springs, 50471. Another option to consider would be coilovers. KW Variant 3 Coilover. Last edited by John H.; 03-09-2019 at 09:42 AM.. Reason: Added info. |

I have bought Eibach for my 535i. Now I have 535xd where the drop seems to be mandatory.
My Eibachs are 11-200-22-01/2 part number (this is what is written on the springs itself). Strangely I cannot find this on the net, not sure if this is correct to take the number out from the spring itself. On the box, outside, I have only F10/F18/G30 written. I was thinking to install those springs, as they should fit, but I started wondering if this is a good idea once I saw that the struts are actually different. |

Below is the Eibach Europe Catalog... http://web2.carparts-cat.com/default...7279004&12=130 EIBACH PRO-KIT (Europe) FRONTS: F11-20-022-02-VA REARS: F11-20-022-01-HA If I am interpreting the specs correctly, without self-leveling, springs will give you 30mm (1.2 in.) drop on all four corners. With self-leveling, the rear drops 25mm (1 in.). I wonder why the rears are not offered here in the USA? ... Last edited by John H.; 03-10-2019 at 12:48 PM.. Reason: Added info. |
