MasterC17 - 2012 535Xi Build

Here are some previous builds of mine:

2002 M3 Race Car

2015 F80 M3 Street/Track Car

And I've done others I did not document online.

Anyway, I bought this 2012 535Xi with 72,000 miles on it. Still under ESC/Maintenance Plan until 100k. Unfortunately, the previous owner kind of neglected the car, so it's not in perfect shape, but definitely workable.

I will be documenting all of the modifications I make to the car, and probably do DIY's on everything as well for the community.

I'm going to track it. Why the hell am I taking an AWD Automatic 535 and tracking it? Well, basically all of my other track cars are in some state of disarray, so this is my only running option at the moment . I'm not going to go nuts on it, but try to make it track worthy/fun.

Here it is in all of its glory.

Here is a list of parts I have ordered so far:

BMS JB4
BMS Intake
VRSF Downpipe
ACS Springs
M5 Comp Pack Front Sway Bar
M5 Steering Wheel w/ Paddles
M Performance Pedals
M Performance Spoiler

So, the first thing I did was install a JB4 on the car. I have always been very happy with BMS products, and have run a BMS tune on both my X5d, and my F80.

Here is my JB4 Install Guide.

Planning on doing an oil change and the downpipe in the next couple days.

Did an oil change last night @ 71,752 Miles.

And the M5 Steering Wheel came in.

I also ordered a set of Style 302 Wheels. I really dislike the factory 19" M-Sport wheels.

Beautiful wheels!

Which tires and tire sizes will you mount?

Sizes are definitely going to be 245/40/19. No need for wider tires with AWD, even for cornering purposes.

In terms of tires themselves, I think I'm going to go with Michelin PS2/PSS, but still undecided. Can't wait to get rid of the run-flats for sure!

Ordered an LCI M-Sport Gear Selector. Not a fan of the older style selector.

Damn! On top of that it's the ceramic version

I'd love to swap my pre-LCI, non-SAT gear selector and iDrive assembly for the ceramic, SAT LCI versions. If I was doing that, I'd also get a SAT steering wheel and swap for some M5 paddles.
At some point I'd have to wake up from that dream and deal with reality.

Yes sir! I don't really mind the rest of the stuff, the shifter design is just gross!

Also got the M5 Steering Wheel installed last night, but didn't have time to take a picture. Will get one soon.
