Greetings
Hi all,
Just introducing myself to the 5-crew. Recently picked up a 2011 535 xDrive M Sport as my DD. I definitely have a BMW problem as this is my 4th BMW in 3 years. I've been wanting a 5 series for awhile now and am happy to finally find the one I think is the one for me. I'm a total DIY guy and have no problem tearing something down to the last washer to maintain it. I'm planning to keep this bad boy for many many years. Looking forward to the awesome forum interactions we all are used to! |

Welcome. WOW, I thought I was bad with my 3rd 5 series in 10 years
My 535 is my 41st car, and I am enjoying it so far. If you do DIY stuff, please do post it if you can. I am a big DIYer as well, and while I know my way around the E60, the F10 is fairly new to me (got mine a little over a month ago). Where in CO are you from? I grew up in Denver, in Cherry Creek across from the Denver Country Club. |

Some spoiled people around here lol! I didn't get my 1st BMW until my 40's haha! Probably because I was more into imports and lifted trucks before the Euro scene? Welcome to the forums!

Thanks all!
Didn't get my 1st BMW until my 40s also, so I'm right there with ya! I made the mistake of telling my boss at work I was looking for a new DD 3 years ago. His reply was "why don't you look at picking up an E90?" I didn't even know what that was back then. Then my next mistake was driving a 2007 328i. Never had I felt that "part of the road" feeling that car had. So, that ruined me. ha! They've always been used cars with 70k+ miles and no warranty, never bought a new one. My first was a 2006 330xi, sold that 2 years ago after buying an E46 M3 with 100K miles which I still have and use nearly solely for autocross and track events. Then last fall I bought another 2006 330xi. I really was thinking about the 335 or 535 but when i came across the E90 with a 6 speed I couldn't pass it up because I did like the prior E90 other than it not having a manual transmission. I left my cars.com 'search' active after that, which was the next mistake, and that led me to the F10. Now i have another E90 330xi to sell. Once I figure out a place to put a pic online, I'll update this thread. |

It's actually Deep Sea Blue Metallic, and don't feel bad, when I saw it in certain lights I thought it was black. And, even the dealership I bought it from had their little info tag on the key ring and it said black! I love the Carbon Black as well. I do like this blue. My first 330xi was Monaco Blue and I loved that color too.
Oh, and PJ, I live east of Longmont, in Mead.

Welcome to the F10's, and for DIY attitude. I've got my 2011 535i and I love the challenge of working on it myself and learning everything about it. You'll love that car.

Congrats !
I like the DIY attitude, that's pretty cool to see. To me, and granted I don't work on my own cars, complexity and electronics of these are a bit intimidating. |

when i picked up my F10 535 i didn't know anything about the car. all i did was look down the CPO list that YarkBMW had and i picked according to looks lol! it wasn't until after i bought the car did i learn about the engine, the package and all the aftermarket goodies. never regretted getting it or wishing for a 550 or M5. but i know my next BMW after i pickup my wife's X5 will be a M5
any plans for upgrades or anything?

I plan to get a JB4, spoiler for the trunk lid, exhaust system, CAI, and maybe some M5 or 550 bits that fit the 535. But I have a bunch of maintenance I want to take care of first so it'll be awhile before I start spending $ on upgrades/mods.

just don't put any M5 logos on your car...you'll be crucified and your car set on fire!

Isturbo - yes, I red about this long ago. The word "poser" seems to be a common word used to describe someone with M logos and/or the M stripes on a non-M. I have the M sport package on my 535, and the "M" and stripes are all on teh inside parts of the car, not the outside.
Think of it just like "things you should never say to your wife or g/f", you know, like "calm down"....

Yep, not much gets you flamed more on a BMW forum than putting M badges on a non-M car. That and adding chrome to your car will definitely get you flamed (see: 5 series.net "envy" thread - it's many years old, bu you'll get the picture) This is what happens when you do dumb things to your car: http://5series.net/forums/e60-parts-...g-today-52172/ ^^Best forum thread in history Last edited by PJinCA; 04-21-2016 at 11:49 PM.. |
