When will bmw have more android compatibility?
I don't have, and never will have, an iPhone. just got my galaxy s8. When will bmw realize there are millions of users out there with android devices? considering you can get cheap ass Kia cars with both apple car play and android play.

Do you use an adapter that plugs in to the 3.5mm plug in the center console? Or did you buy the bluetooth upgrade (or did it come stock with yours)? I have bluetooth, but it only seems to work with answering calls. Maybe I missed a setting?

Go to your devices and you should have a check mark next to your phone. That's how I know I'm on. My BMW had Bluetooth already no adaptor

I don't see much of a difference between using my works' iPhone 6S vs my personal Android (OnePlus 3T) in the car. The experience of making calls and playing music is the exact same, with the exception of not being able to get album art over bluetooth in the car via my Android phone. For some crazy reason that no one knows why, Google has yet to support AVRCP 1.6 on Android (it's stuck on version 1.3). Bluetooth AVRCP 1.6 is what enables album art as well as other little cool things. Apple has been supporting it for years.
Obviously if you're also talking about the iPhone experience plugged in, then yes, Android support is lacking when it comes to controlling apps on the phone not even an issue if you're using BT only. Coming from a Mercedes, I'm just ecstatic over the fact that you can fwd and rewind music over BT on the iDrive. Even my wife's 2017 MB still doesn't support that. |

You need to talk to Software developers. Android is supported, just through ConnectedDrive. And, if you get a car with ID5/ID6, you can use Miracast; which gives more support than restricted Carplay.
