BMW & Theft...paranoid now!

Okay...So I live in a Condo with no garage. My car sits at home while I take my truck to work. My neighbor tells me that during the day a couple of black guys walked around my car and one of them actually looked through the window. My Condos are right next to somewhat of a bad apartment complex. According to my neighbor that's where they went back to. They didn't do anything to the car but my question is since our BMW uses a FOB, can they still steal it without the FOB?

Best I recommend is leaves nothing in the car and don't lock the door.

The real question is..... if the 2 guys were white would the OP have said so?????
To answer the question posted...anything can be stolen if someone really wants it bad enough. Just don't be so stupid as to leave something inside that the average joe will want to steal. Out of sight..out of mind.

I would invest in dashcam.

Edit: It is somewhat easy to reprogram a keyfob once they get inside the car. But, I believe BMW has fixed the OBD2 port.

Well this post and these comments are absurd. What if they really liked your car and wanted to see it up close? Glass half full? You can't pass judgement until after the fact or even thinking about passing one.

On the side note, you can't make your car anti-theft so just keep your belongings to yourself and hope for the best.

Amazing how sensitive people are these days just by describing someone.

In any case, no way you can make it theft proof. They can just tow it and no one would blink an eye. If you leave no valuables, they won't break into it. Just lock it. Ever thought about investing in an camera that you can mount in your condo that looks at your car? Might be worth investing in.

I presume it's insured so I wouldn't worry about it, at the end of the day if someone wants to take it they will. As long as you don't do something to void your insurance, like leave it unlocked, you are protected if something does go wrong.

If your that worried you might want to set up a camera as suggested and install a tracker...

lsturbointeg, so if a couple of black guys look at your BMW, they are possible thieves? And if a couple white guys check out your BMW, they are either admirers or car guys?

Since we are dealing with black people, I would just let them have the car. I would be more concerned with them breaking into your condo and causing physical harm to you.

The post should have read "y neighbor tells me that during the day a couple of guys walked around my car and one of them actually looked through the window" instead of a couple of black guys looked thru my window. Why is there a need to describe the suspicious character as black? Is it because in the OP's mind, the adjective black emphasize the possibility that those two guys are thieves?

Wow...didn't know this was gonna get out of hand. If i offended anybody i apoligize. Maybe I didn't put enough details as to what happened? This has nothing to do with race. Let me explain.

My neighbor who was lounging by his front door said that 2 guys jumped over the fence across the parking lot that separates the condos and the apartments. they walked to my car and stood by it and both looked around to see if anybody was watching them. Since they couldn't see my neighbor watching them one of them Put his hand against the window to look through at the same time tried to lift the door handle. They were not admiring the car as my neighbor knows they were trying to break in. My neighbor than walked out to the parking lot and approached the 2 guys. They both looked at each other and immediately took off leaping the fence. Now u tell me if u think they were just admiring the car? If they did they wouldn't have taken off. By the way...my neighbor is black and He told me from the start they were up to no good. So again...if I offended anybody I apologize but Maybe I should have explained it better but my concern was whether or not our cars can be stolen even without the key FOB.

BTW...if they were white,Asian,Mexican or whatever I would say the same thing. But I guess this day and age no matter what people get offended regardless.

So like someone mentioned above there's nothing valuable in the car. Nothing in site to take. It is fully insured but like most of you my car is my Baby! So yes, I am worried someone will steal it.

lol, yes it will get out of hand.I'm a "black guy" but live in Canada. I know that your post wasn't originally about that. So on a serious note, to Steal these cars, is basically done with a Tow truck. you can't stop it. Only thing you can do is chain it down. Like one of the members said. Don't leave anything in the car attractive to thieving eyes.
Thieves come in all shapes, sizes, colours, and genders my friend. I just hate smash and grab as they will destroy your side window (PITA) just to grab a phone, small change etc. Keep the car clean inside all the time.

The good thing is that stealing our stereos is pretty much useless.

I suggest investing a TRACKER and keeping your belongings out so if stolen you'll get the car and get them arrested with the help of police... I also suggest you tell nobody about the tracker so the robbers wouldn't hear (that way they'd leave you and target another poor guy, so let them target you and fall in the trap!)

P.S. Am I the only one who thought of the whole "Black Guy" thing as just a Description not racism...

Edit: I apologize if you did do that and something went wrong!

Unless its like a pack of gum in the car, imagine they'd break a window to steal some gum (I have a wide imagination)

+1

I'm with you on this one, I'm of Indian heritage and if you had said a couple of Indian guys approached my car I wouldn't take that as being racist, it's just being descriptive for gods sake!

Political correctness gone mad, you can't seem to breathe nowadays without being accused of offending someone.

I think that you've all missed an option, they could wait for you to come home in the F10 and relieve you of your keys/car...

Happened to someone I know, his wife came home in their 7 Series and two guys in black hoodies (omg can I say that) came out of hiding and took the car from her
