Counting down.....

29 days to go until I take delivery.

As I share my countdown and excitement with you, I will everyday for the next 29 days share a different BMW related fact with you all.

Balster BMW Fact no 29:
After the Second World War for 3 years, BMW built no motor vehicles or bikes and only survived by producing pots and pans.

Not like you're making it worse for yourself!!

I'm trying to take my mind off it with non-BMW related activities. You Mr Balster are seriously twisted.

28 days until I take delivery.

Balster BMW Fact no 28:

The first '5' series came out in 1972 and carried with it a number of innovations for BMW, such as it was the first vehicle to use the present-day naming scheme (series number followed by two numbers indicating engine displacement 520).

Balster BMW Fact no 27:

Did you know that BMW celebrates April fools day?
BMW's marketing team publishes different adverts in the newspaper... Only on April fools day. The adverts are humorous, and quite intelligent.

26 days until I take delivery.

Balster BMW Fact no 26:

The BMW M logo first appeared on the BMW M1 in 1978. It features three coloured slashes and the letter "M". "M" stands for Motorsport. Well, that's quite common knowledge - but what about colours?

Blue one represents Bavaria and BMW.
Red one represents Texaco - oil company that was a partner of BMW Motorsport in the early days.
The purple stripe is there for decoration only, some sort of a transition between blue and red.

25 days until I take delivery.

Balster BMW Fact no 25:

The best early German fighter of WW2 was, arguably, the BF109. Kurt Tank wanted to build what he thought was an improved fighter plane. The Luftwaffe wouldn't release the Mercedes Benz BF109 DB601 engines to him, so Tank used BMW engines. The fighter plane that he made was considered by many to be superior to the BF109. It was the FW190.

24 days until I take delivery.

Balster BMW Fact no 24:

BMW plants exist all over the world. In fact, BMW's website indicates they have 24 manufacturing facilities in 13 countries. For example, BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, their only one in the United States, currently manufactures the BMW X5 and X6 SUVs, as well as the BMW Z4 roadster. BMW's most popular vehicle, the 3 Series, is produced at a few different facilities, including ones in Munich, Germany and Rosslyn, South Africa.

I did consider new but...I do 25,000 miles a year and have a really cool private plate...my ideal spec was coming in at £45k (new). Got a deal down to about £37k. £5k in and £565 per month with BMW's 4.9% APR. Almost pulled the trigger and planned to wait 6-8 weeks.

Then my dealer found a six month old 63 plate, better than my ideal spec and only 2,000 miles on the clock.

£32,000, £480 per month.

Deal done. Boom!!

Been to see it and it's PERFECT.

23 days until I take delivery.

Balster BMW Fact no 23:

BMW's largest manufacturing facility is located in Dingolfing, which is a city in Southern Bavaria, Germany. This plant produces the 5, 6, and 7 Series cars, as well as the high-performance M5 and M6. In addition to producing cars, the Dingolfing plant also creates chassis components and systems for every other BMW factory.
