How's your f10 experience? comp e60 535
Hey Guys,
I'm looking at two 535's. Narrows it down a 2010 e60 m-sport (black headliner- instant 6 to midnight) and a 2011 f10. I've read up and it sounds like definitely a different driving feel which I may be ok with. ('11 335xi is killer on the shoulders) I'm looking to more understand your experiences especially as it pertains to reliability. My 2011 N55 has been good to me so far but alas I need 4 doors and I won't go back to non-turbo. It's just not an option. N54 I hear has their problems. Any chance I'm safe with an 2010 m-sport. (the m-sport I'm looking at doesn't have the m-buper which makes me think it was in an accident. 2011 F10 is first model which I'm hesitant on although N55. again any guidance would be appreciated. |

If you can afford both, I'd definitely go for the F10 because its an awesome car. That being said, what are the miles of each car? If both sellers are okay with it, have them take it to a local BMW dealer and get a full inspection.

I'm confused since non-turbo is not an option for you. I will say that I am totally satisfied with my owning experience so far. Everything about this car is what I had hoped it would be for me.

They're similar price range. ~2k difference... both just at or under 90k.

Not 100% relevant as I had a 545i in the past and now a 550i, but the quality of the two cars is night and day.
The E60 to me feels more like a toy compared to the F10, especially from the interior perspective. I would venture to say that even my 2003 E39 feels more premium than the E60. The G30 is an evolution of the F10 while the F10 feels like it's 15 years ahead of the E60. |

whichever one is RWD.
seriously, its time you bought a real BMW. f10- luxury. soft boat like handling e60 strikes a better balance between luxury and handling. more sporty. coming from an e92, you will be dissapointed with how the f10 handles unless you are looking for a soft, floaty ride. |

I dunno man, if you driven both they are so different. The E60 is so sporty, hard sprung, etc. CheapER interior quality. F10 FEELs like its been built on the 7 series platform - such a competent and solid car but its not a nimble pocket rocket. I recently (2 weeks ago) got my first F10 (well, F11, touring, xdrive) and I looked into E60 and it wasnt a contest. To me the F10-11 is a spiritual successor to the E39. E60 was curious, and in Msport trim looked cool but .... I think F10 is a bit of another level, much more so than the G30 over F10 in my opinion. I think AmooManiak above said same thing.
Your Msport version without front bumper warrants investigation. It is 1-2k to replace it for the right one, not so good to miss it even if it was a smple scratch swap type affair. You are worried getting 2010 - first model year. Remember that BMW only replaces engines etc for Facelift models (so mid 2013). Therefore while cosmetically different the F10 you are looking at isnt that far off tech wise in some aspects from the E60. The LCI on another hand is a bit of a different animal - the new faster idrive alone is a big improvement IMHO. But is that worth really the extra cash? ... good luck, I think after the 335xi you might love the calmer solid character quality of the F10 vs the hurried looking to prove stuff E60.

I may have misunderstood something but wasn't 2010 the first year for the F10 body? If you are looking at a 2010 E60 wouldn't that be an M5 equipped with a V10? 2009 was the last year for E60 except for the M5 I think.
Please pardon if I'm incorrect, I just joined up here today. |

Hey Guys,
Thanks a ton for the feedback it really helped with the process. After being a pubes hair away from pulling the trigger on an Audi S4 I'm back in the E60 camp. $27k was too rich for my blood. F110 and that driving experience can wait. I'm pursuing the E60 with renewed vigor. 2010, RWD, M-Sport package, black headliner, preferably with the turbos replaced.....so if you know of any I'm your guy. Thoughts? |

I've always liked the e60 body style, but after owning an M6 for a few months I couldn't do just a regular e60, I'd have to get the M5. But I personally don't need the extra rod bearing and vanos issues on my plate.
Good luck with your car shopping! I test drove a 2010 550i M Sport and it was a fun car. Wish I could find an alpine white f10 550i M Sport with as many options as my titanium silver; I'd jump on it immediately.

It's official. I've got the E60 in my possession. Still waiting for the paperwork to get here. The car got here quick, fast and in a hurry.
Happy to share any info on shipping the car. Feel free to send anything you think pertinent for E60 |
