I have never seen a bmw 535i exhaust like this before !!
Hi there,
I bought a bmw 535i 2013 and I'm looking for an exhaust that makes a sound when shifting gear like this car ( VW r model ) One week ago I was surprised. First time to see a BMW 535i does that sound like this (put your headphone to hear it better specially when he is shifting from third to fourth gear) This car related to one of this great forum members ( Alshamsi ) I hope he is here to tell us how he made this great sound when shifting Noticed ( gtc exhaust has nothing to do in the sound that comes out when shifting ) I will appreciate your help guys nd srry for my lang |

Eagle Eye,
I just recently (3 weeks ago) equipped my 2014 535i F10 with a bunch of mods. I plan on doing a full write up of all the mods in the near future once my car is complete and I have all pics/vids ready. My car produces that same shifting sound your looking for. Here's what I added that gave me that sound.... -BMS Intake -BMS JB4 -Fi (Frequency Intelligence) Catless DP -Fi (Frequency Intelligence) Valvetronic Full Quad Exhaust |

My 535 sounds like that when I hit full throttle between shifts 2nd-3rd 3rd-4th. It has the GTC exhaust with BMS intake. I think it actual made the noise louder when the K&N filter was in. It's almost like a gurgle burp noise when you up shift going from high rpm back to low.

I have the BMS intake and a custom exhaust and after around 3k rpm in sport mode when I shift under mid to full throttle you will here that what I like to call a "FART" noise in between shifts lol

From my understanding the sound in the Scirocco R is the result of a backfire in the exhaust caused by a ignition cut on upshifting (this is a common method of managing WOT shifting in manual/DCT transmissions). When the ignition is cut for a split second, unburnt fuel enters the exhaust and ignites there when ignition is switched on again, causing a explosion. Sounds awesome
The noise that comes from the 535i in your video is, to my understanding, not the same but is a result of wastegate management and exhaust passing the wastegate. If you listen to similar videos of F10 M5's you can hear the same "exhaust cracks" going on, but they aren't limited to upshifts. Same thing happens when the driver releases the throttle while driving in the same gear. Leading me to believe it's wastegate related. However, you could get something like a WOT Box to cut ignition during upshifts to cause the same explosion http://www.npcompleteperformance.com/wotbox You would have to change the trigger signal from the clutch pedal to the shifter/shift paddles on a automatic transmission though. This video shows how it sounds on a Mustang going down the strip... BTW, the A45 AMG does the same thing as the Scirocco R Last edited by Boss330; 02-23-2014 at 04:38 AM.. |

Sounds a little like mine, straight pipe doesn't seem too common around these parts.

I was the driver of the 535i that day. The best we got that day was 13.21s ( 168 km/h).
our 535i has PPperformance ECU stage 2 ( upgraded tune), Full Gthaus exhaust and down pipe. The total horse power is more than 430 BHP. Simply when you get your car tuned by PPperformance , you should focus on the shifting gear. the best shift would be at 6200 Rpm and you will feel that you shift the gear correctly and accurately. |

WoOow, I remember that it was my first try on the track;however, I noticed something happened in the back wheel and a weird sound was coming from the engine as well, I'm not sure, but it was the reasons that caused me to release the throttle. I think you explained the situation just by watching that attempt, and I want to acknowledge that You are smart and genius as well. I wanna be your friend If you don't mind, can you give us more about " The wastegate management and exhaust passing the wastegate." Regards, |
