What is the cheapest car that you could get excited about owning?
So, as the title says. What is the cheapest car that you could get excited about owning? Lets assume this will be your daily driver for two or three years. So, new car, or no more then two years old.
I am conflicted about this, I don't have to make a move for a year or so. I have the feeling that an M3 would probably be perfect for my next car, but I am just not that excited by it, or interested in it. So for me, right now it would be a 135i, or a used 911. How about you? So far: STi Cayman S 335i MCS Genesis Caterham (hard core for a DD) GTI S2000 MCS-JCW c63 gtr z06 c2s WRX M3 Boxster S subaru legacy 2.5GT Mazdaspeed3 EVO 370Z 350Z Supra 996tt Mustang Shelby GT500 944 Turbo Great List So Far! I love the Cayman S, I have a Boxster S that I am going to get rid of soon. If it was a Cayman S instead of a roadster I would probably keep is a demote it to DD. I will probably be needing a back seat in the next couple years.
But, great choice. |

LOL before clicking the thread I had my answer ready it was B18C civic or MK3 VR6 but you're in an other league....your cheap car is my daily/track
But seriously if I had to get rid of the car for lets say a car that's worth half I'd say MS3, used STI, Civic SI A 5K car could make me happy, an E36 M3 could put a grin on my face. I think that you would have to change the way you wrote your question. Ex: What would you buy for 25K or something like that.

An other thing 06 or 09 cayman... 08+ STI or 04-06 or the 07 ....335I didnt change so no issues there you have to come up with a better question how much do you want to spend?

Don't mean to threadjack or anything but those of you that have owned Cayman's or Boxters did you use it as a DD? I'm considering a Cayman eventually to replace the 335i.
And to put things back on track... An old WRX wouldnt be too bad if you're talking cheap. If you wanna spend more I'd second the e36 m3. |

For many it may be the car that they have. For example someone who can easily afford a new GT3, but the 335i did it for them and they decided not to spend the extra 50,000 - 70,000 dollars. |

If we are talking about a new car, then I'd say Genesis coupe. For used cars, then there are a lot, but probably used m3 or 911. They'd have to be pretty old tho to get down the Genesis Coupe price!

I was pumped when I got my GTI. I had already owned an Exige and a G35 Coupe but neither made me happier than the GTI.

cayman s, c63, gtr, z06, c2s(kinda) - those would all excite me under 100k- since you said cheapest and compared to the rest of your list.

New: WRX (doesn't have to be an STI), EVO, 370Z
Used: 350Z, Supra, E46 M3, ITR if it's extremely mint, RX-7 Regardless, I think my next car will be a C6 vette. Edit: I would add the S2k, but i'm 6'4. I considered cramming myself into one before I got the 335, but even as much as I loved it, it's just not even remotely comfortable. I keep my eye on the prices of used NSXs though.
