3D Nav view of NYC

I took this picture of my display while driving the other day in my '13 535xi M sport. Pretty cool. It's of the Upper West Side of NYC.

What sort of settings do you need to enable to get this? I think my car can do this too, but I am not sure which options to tick...

I think it's with the new '13 Nav. If you have a '12 model it most probably won't work.

3D nav started being available from the '09 Nav system. If you scroll your nav screen to show 400ft or less, the 3D graphics will be available. But this is the '13 Nav system which is upgraded, the graphics may look slightly different from the '12 Nav system.

The software is not available for an upgrade on the older models?

I believe that this type of 3D view of the buildings is only available starting with the '13 models. It really shows nothing most of the time while driving through suburbia, its only when I am in a big city that it just popped up.

It was pretty cool the first time that I saw it...and maybe the second time too . In a practical sense I do not believe that it has much use.
