I wanted to give my personal experience with the tune thus far. I have nothing but praise for the Mission Performance Team. Both the owners Alex and Kareem have been life savers. They were able to remove a corrupt tune that I thought I was going to have to live with and gave me light at the end of the tunnel. They gave my N55 a second chance at life, literally. They showed that I was running 13% beyond what is considered safe in my AFR. They discovered that all parameters for my turbos were pushed up to 30%(shorter turbo life for sure), along with a string of other maps that weren't even touched for safety measures. Alex had no problem explaining all the parameters and the corellating maps as he programmed.

Day 1: Drove out Fullerton California to meet the Mission Performance team. Alex bench flashed the ECU in an hour at their shop. While he was dismantling the car he let me take their 600hp M5 to in-and-out! Upon my return Alex was able to remove a previous tune that had gone corrupt and he found the culprit. The issue was BMW software updates changed the address of the maps so the previous flash was off by a few bytes. The problem with that is flash tuning if off by only one byte, the whole flash is corrupt. Alex flashed it back to stock and then added the Mission Performance Tune stage 1 so he had both on file for remote tuning purposes. Put it on the road and immediately all the stuttering from the last tune was gone, instant and smooth power. I had regained confidence in my car and didn't baby the throttle any more, afraid that I would blow it up. Left the shop mid afternoon and lucky for me I beat traffic. Made it home in record time

Day 2: Cold start no problem. Got up to operating temps and let the hammer fly! Again smooth all the way across the board in all gears. We didn't know it at the time because the flash had not been dyno'd yet, but we later discover the initial bench flash delivered 301whp / 394wtq. performed like a champ all day long. I knew it was not completely dialed in as I have had cars in the past with more power.

Day 3: Dyno day! Met up with the team, strap that bitch down, hit 160mph and viola 301whp / 394wtq. Alex hooked up the OBD, made some adjustments to the tune, BOOM 318 /415, flash again to move the fuel closer to 3k BOOM power delivered sooner!, OBD flash tune again BOOM! 316/435. We determined that 435 was over the limits of the manual transmission so the final number for the Mission Performance stage 1 flash tune is 318.5whp / 423wtq! For more data on how we arrived at that number see here: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1234463
Now remember that my previous tune was bumped up 30% on turbo operations, Alex was able to achieve more power using only a 10% increase. Went to get a bite with the MP crew afterwards, thanks for the burger Alex Took care of me all through the whole process, food and all. Like I said, dedicated pros. We got into deeper discussion about their long term plans. Kareem even said to me, "I want to create awareness about our company to BMW fans, but at a moderate pace". I told him once people get a taste of the power and technology you guys are bringing to the table it won't be long.

Day 4: Did this thing just get faster? I believe the car adapted because my butt-dynojet was reading extra power on the top-end. Pulled into my one-and-only favorite E85 spot on the west side, Conserv Fuel. Added 6gallons of unicorn and the rest 91oct. Drove for about 15 miles, let that fuel get into the system, hooked up my EngineLink app, hit record and boom, a gain of 15whp see here at the 30 second mark 331whp! I only got it into 4th gear due to traffic on the freeway. The car was tuned for power in the low end because I asked for a street tune. 2nd and 3rd gear have monster passing power. If you look at the post that contains the Dyno data take a look at when fuel is delivered in the AFR view. Alex also tuned the timing so power continued on the top end as well. On top end 4th at 3500rpm has very strong freeway passing power. If you hold 4th and shift strong into 5th it gets scary fast. Point is, a street application is what most people desire and Alex has dialed my tune for that purpose.

I will be adding to this post for updates. Projections in about a month for the stage 2 build includes upgrade map sensors, DP and about 350whp on 91!

Flash tunes FTW!

Best 0-60 time and 30-70 roll
Outside temp 75 and dry
Coolant 211 degrees
Intake temp 95 degrees
Running e85 blend
Flat new asphalt
6MT

0-60 STOCK 6MT 5.7, AT 5.5
0-60 MP STAGE 1 6MT 5.25 seconds
(achieved in 1st to 2nd gear) shaved .50 seconds!

30-70 roll 4.75 seconds
(achieved in 2nd-3rd gear)

Like I said, 2nd and 3rd gear are strong passing gears in the streets. Btw 4.75 is only .5 behind my e90 with a backend flash and JB4 G5. 3rd gear can go up to 80mph before changing. I also mentioned 4th has crazy passing speeds. If you can use 3rd on the freeway( I don't suggest it), then you can understand how 4th has amazing freeway passing power.

Also keep in mind the ZF8HP would be sub 5's on stage 1.

(Stage 2 projections) Custom DP and new map sensors were projecting 0-60 another half a second, with meth possibly a full one and half seconds. A mid to low 4 second car is the goal on a stock turbo.

Thanks buddy. So far so good. My car is now a hair behind a stock 335i. That's a huge deal for us 4100lbs big boys.

UPDATE:

As we know the same tune on the N55 F10 puts out less power then the same tune on a N55 F30 for example. There are some reasons I've recently discovered thanks to the research at MissionPerformance

1. Cooling
The air intake circles all the way around the motor and cooks over the DP and turbo, then makes an ugly 80 degree turn to the inlet of the turbo. We are going to try some experiments with the intake such as removing the dummy panel on the passenger side grille to allow more air into the engine compartment, wrapping the entire intake system in DEI Gold foil wrap and installing a DP for lower under the hood temps. Currently intake temps on average is 20 degrees hotter then ambient air.

2. DME for Torque. This is a big one and I'll let MP chime in for technical explanation. The ecu hardware on both N55 F10 and F30 seem identical. In fact they are, even down to the chipset. However, the torque maps programmed on them are different. In short, and again I'll let MP go in detail if they choose so, the rpm range is not finely controlled on a F10 as it is with a F30. So making torque adjustments to convert tq into hp is not as precise. Kinda of see it as 8bit vs 16bit audio. There are less blocks to store data. As of last night Alex reflashed me remotely and built a custom TQ scaling map. Holy shit what a difference. So smooth all the way up to the 6500 range. I now have some power over 5500. Yes the stock turbo begins to take a crap at about 4000 rpm, but its not game over anymore at 5000k. This is truly what is going to separate MP tunes from others. We are going to the dyno again to make a final Stage 1 with TQ remap. New numbers will only be higher. So i guess less is more in this case. Now that the car is NOT maxed on torque and turbos have more room to boost, the next dyno should produce some excellent results. Not sure if they are going to be F30 335 numbers, but should be very close.

3. Throttle response, throttle response, throttle response. You can have all the power you want, but if it lives at the bottom of the throttle sensor then you're always mashing the pedal. I've recently wrote another thread about Sprint Booster, and I still stand by that. SB is amazing if you're still trying to figure out your throttle delay. In the past there has been attempts at remapping the throttle through flash and they were unsuccessful. Alex at MP said get rid of the SB, which I'm not ready to let go of yet, but during this new refresh last night he added new throttle remapping. He nailed it! Turned off Sprint Booster and it felt very strong, but not head jerking strong. It felt like SB on green. Now you can have throttle delay removed via flash. Just for shits and giggles, I turned my SB back on to Red and god damn, watch out car next me! HAHA

Thanks, great info as always! I hope there is a solution for intake cooling, it doesn't sound like a complicated issue.

Intake cooling should be an easy resolve.
- RPM remapping to match N55 335, check
- Throttle remapping that actually works, check
- Remote tune flashing, check

- Intake cooling, TBA
- Map sensor from 2.5 - 3.5 with scaling, TBA
- Off throttle exhaust mod for gurgle, TBA

The F10 535 is about to become a sleeper

Do you plan dyno logging each step? That would be a great help for our community for better cost/benefit analysis for performance upgrades.

I believe we will have his car on the dyno during next dyno day and will for sure try out the 3.5 map sensor, though with stage 1 it's not really needed.

Pm me as well!

They might test their tune for my car.

Also, is your car stock beyond the tune?

I'm getting another DP and stage 2 tune this week so I'll record it before and after. Right now the exhaust note has already change ever so slightly. MP figured out how to make the exhaust bubble/gurgle. Now when I let off throttle there's a bubbling/gurgle. The DP is going to enhance that.

nice AMC has this option on their tune also they did it on their shop M4 last month. I heard it in person and gurgle sounds great.
