another tire question

Thinking of getting some Michelin Pilot Super Sports and keep the LS2's for the lease inspection. I have x-drive, so all 4 tires are 245/40/19. The RWD car comes with the same front size and 275/35/19 in the rear and the rear rims I believe are 0.5" wider as well. Anybody with an x-drive put the staggered tires on the non staggered rims? I believe the 275 tires fit on the rim for the 245, just curious if anyone else has done it and if the rear tires look funny compared to the front.

For rear staggered tires setup, the rear rim should be 19 * 9 et 44. current xdrive rear rim is 19 * 8.5 et 33.

If you try to fit a 275/35/19 tire into your current rear rim, it will not fit (at least not properly and need much stretching and will pose problem down the road). No matter what, staggered setup will require big $ with 2 new rims & 4 new tires.

For me, I am actually switching to Michelin PSS today (7/27/11) with all 4 at 245/40/19 - stock setup.

I may pose some pics later tonite, if interested in seeing. I am in North Toronto and you are too.

Just ordered 4 PSS 245/40/19, will be here by the end of the week, decided not to mess with the setup since I don't want to buy new rims. Looking forward to some proper summer tires!

Sharbotcom, 245/45/18 Dunlop winter sport 3D runflats on M6 style rims, ran them last winter and they are great.

Good, I was hoping you weren't going to do tire swaps in the fall (you mentioned above you didn't want to buy new rims). As an aside, I have the same M6 replica rims for my winter setup.

Yes, 275/35/19 on 19x8.5 sounds like a bad idea.

First you try to bye a good tyre . Better you can choose your tyre from vicky.in online shopping . I found that website is good for last six month .

I would like to see some pics if you have any and also how you believe the ride compares to the run flats. You put them on the standard M Sport rims I take it??

Sorry OP, not meaning to hijack your original topic.

******

Mike,

Ya! Decided to bite the bullet sooner rather than later. Changed them on Jul 27 and drove about 500km since then on the stock Mstyle rims. Tire shop guy told me it will take about 500km or so to begin to feel the difference, in particularly, the grip & cornering ability.

My initial impression at about 500km:
1) Tire is a bit more noisier than the GY LS2 - especially, highway driving on concrete pavement @ typical highway speed (jprobably a few decibel higher ?? - Not annoying but it is noticeable after driven on LS2 for a few months)
2) Ride (for now) is more or less the same as LS2. Have not hit any big potholes to feel the 'thump' effect.
3) Handling has a bit more feel to the road and with a bit more aggressive cornering ability. No need to brake anymore when making turns .... prolongling the brake pads life.
4) Dry grip is certainly a major improvement over the LS2
5) Wet grip - have not experienced much in Toronto yet due to extreme dry weather condition.

Overall, I have to say pretty good so far .... total cost (install & taxes incl.) is $1560 .. most shops are asking $1750-$1850 range in T.O.

Will take a pic or two tonite of the tire.

BTW, I assumed your car is now all broken in .... how's your car thus far ? Wife driven it yet ?

That sounds like a good price, did you get an alignment done as well??

My car is great, fully broken in now and no she has not driven it yet !!!

I hear you on the dry weather, same here in Ottawa.
