iOS 5 update...
Has anyone else update their iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and found that the BMW Apps no longer work? Anyone find a solution?
A service coordinator, indicated it is not a BMW issue. OK, sort of.... Which I would agree with, but we all knew there were perpetual iOS updates planned so why is there not a process to keep the interface synchronized? I have only had the car since July so to spend all the $$$ on cradle, BMW Apps, and ipod integration to have the first iOS update obsolete all those dollars is annoying. |

I've updated to my iPhone 4 to iOS5 and found everything OK with the Remote and Connected Apps (I think one of them recently updated for the new OS, but can't remember which one it was).
What happens with your Apps now? For the record, my car is a 2012 model year, using the iPhone Media Cradle. |

Mine is a 2011 with the iPhone media cradle, bmw apps.
the cradle will charge the phone, that's it. The plug-in function does not recognize the phone any longer so none of the media cradle functions are available. It appears the bluetooth functions are OK. |

I've just been out to the car to check on all functions of the Connected App, plus checked the Remote.
No problems at all, so it's worth persevering with yours. As I said, I'm pretty sure that one of the Apps (at least) was updated for iOS5 recently... The versions I'm using are... Connected App: 1.6.1(7577) Remote App: 1.0.3/1.9.1 |

Hmmm. OK it's not the App versions. If you haven't tried already, it might be worth deleting them and reloading - nothing to lose doing that. Also worth restarting the phone.
Of course, the car software is very likely to be different between the model years; that's getting way out of my league I'm afraid. Keep in touch if you get it going again and best of luck! |

Have the same problem, even with a new cradle: Charging goes on and off all the time and play-backing videos no longer works, at least the image.
I have an appointment next monday but will first check if the apps are updated. |

I have a 2011 528. The only issue I have since upgrading to iOS5 is the Pandora no longer works through BMW apps. Also I think this is a BMW issue. Don't offer the interface if your not going to support it. Apparently issues were known in beta before the new OS was released. I simple notification by BMW to hold off on upgrading would have been appreciated. I miss not having pandora while driving.

Pandora is aware of the issue & working on it
I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to ios 5. The BMW apps all work perfect, but Pandora no longer works and provides the same error message that you need to upgrade to the latest version.
I saw a different thread on a M3 fourm that Pandora is aware of it and working on a fix and version update coming out to address it. Here is the thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10618299 Can someone point me in the right direction for the BMW Remote app, I have been unable to find it in the Apps Store to download and install on my iPhone. @SOFT - If you erase the phone from BMW memory and reinstall the BT, does that address the Pandora issue? Have you tired it already? Thanks all ! Last edited by BD21; 10-25-2011 at 07:33 PM.. |

To get the remote app you need to login to the uk version of iTunes by clicking on the flag icon on the lower right corner. There are more specific directions in another thread involving the pre-requisites for the account.

On the bright side, it appears that after upgrading to IOS5, you get track information sent to the control display when listening to Bluetooth Audio!

Erasing BT does mot fix Pandora
I tried erasing BT and reinstalling. Pandora still gets version error. Didn't think it would fix anything but certainly worth a try.

Why is it UK only? I use BMW Remote nearly every day, it's a great feature...

Works fine in US, just app is not available on US iTunes store. Have to switch to UK and create a login to get it. Search for the other thread with a step by step. |

No, it was a genuine question, as I had read elsewhere that US users think they are using it "unofficially" and I wondered why it isn't available on all iTunes sites internationally, as many (the vast majority?) of apps are.
Glad that it works elsewhere (presumably worldwide?). I didn't need to search for the other thread, as I already have it and use it from UK iTunes (my home site) that's why I was surprised that not all iTunes regions offer such a great app directly. |
