Quick Q on iPod connectivity and I've searched.

For a new 5-series and a regular iPod nano. Y-Cable or white apple cable? Does car come with Y-cable? I will have BMW Apps.
How about an iPhone 4S?

Is there a newer Y-Cable that came out recently? (I saw some mention of a potential newer one in a couple of search results, but nothing concrete.)

Go for Apple white cable, this way you get the art work displayed, not the case with the Y cable well on my 2011 model for sure. difference in sound mp3 quality is none, some argue one is better than the other, I think the apple cable is the best.

Y-cable is officially dead for any current producing models with USB, since they all should have COMBOX with album art display feature.

As the others have said, Apple white USB cable is all you need. If you have an old y-cable laying around it should still work too.
