2014 LCI with mods, coding and yes.... pics

So I’ve had my Alpine white with Mocha LCI for about a week and a half. Since I had a garage full of parts, the past week I’ve been busy with mods and coding. So far my impressions of the LCI are awesome. I’m glad I waited on the 704 suspension. It’s the perfect ride height IMO. Sure it wouldn’t hurt to go a little lower, but I’m pleased with the amount of wheel gap and it’s saving me money from buying springs. For comparison, to me, the LCI 704 rides the same as the LCI in comfort mode. However, in the corners it’s tighter than the non 704 LCI with the sport setting on. This car is quiet and smooth, nothing harsh about it. It’s almost Lexus like. Even in the rain you can’t hear the water being kicked up by the tires. I like the steering feel better in sport, but I don’t like driving in sport all the time since my gas mileage won’t be as good. I think it would be good if you could separately adjust the steering tightness in idrive. The HK audio is pretty decent, but not as good as the Prem hi-fi in my 2012 X5. I’ll have to report back on acceleration later since I’m still breaking her in. So far my only complaint is the arm rests on the doors are too thin. My only regret, is not getting 20's

Mod List:
-Avant Garde M355 Wheels wrapped with Michelin AS3’s Fronts are 19X9 with 255/40/19 and the rears are 19X10 with 285/35/19. I purchased the wheels from Alan at **********s http://www.**********s.com/ They had the best price and had the wheels in stock. These wheels are hub centric. Alan was great to work with and his service after the sale was nothing short of exceptional. I love the Michelin AS3’s they really don’t act or handle like an all-season tire. The vehicle tracks straight, no tramlining and in the rain they handle like a summer tire on dry roads. I’m glad all the reviews I read on these we’re spot on. For balancing I had them Road force balanced on the Hunter GPS 9700. Chances are if your dealership has one, they don’t know how to use it. Make sure they adjust the road force limits down to 10lbs. This will force the balancer to do a force match. This is where the machine aligns the heavy spot in the wheel with the light spot on the tire. This greatly reduces the amount of weights required on your wheels and gives a perfect balance. My right front wheel didn’t need any weights after the force match.
-3m color stable tint 20% all the way around
-BMW gloss black performance grills
-M performance spoiler
-Xpel Ultimate clear bra. I purchased from Ryan Burroughs at www.AutoPaintGuard.com I got a local estimate to do the complete front and mirrors for $850 for the Nano Avery. I got the self healing expel in a pre cut kit for $315 and installed myself and even wrapped the edges. It took about 9 hours total to do. I could do it faster now since I picked up some tips along the way. One tip I can pass along is instead of using a couple drops of soap in your slip solution, use about an ounce, also use a mixture of about 40% alcohol and 60% water for tacking.

-For protection I went with the Gtechniq C1 and C2V3 for a top coat. This stuff applies easy and really isn’t labor intensive and the car shines like glass. As far as how long it’ll last and hold up to the elements, I’ll have to report back on that. Gtechniq says the C1 will last up to 2 years and the C2 will last up to 8 months
http://gtechniqna.com/exterior-coatings/c1-c2v3-kit/

Future mods BMW stage 2

Coding:
-DVD inmotion
-Turn signals in the HUD
-Animated ///M splash screen on start up on NAV screen
-Removed all seat belt warnings and reminders
-Fogs on with highbeams
-Reduced sensitivity on light sensor for headlights
-Mirrors fold in and out with Lock/ unlock though CA and key fob
-Auto unlock doors with key off
-Close trunk with key fob and dash button
-Added tire pressure and tire temp to vehicle info
-Removed camera warnings
-Removed window interrupt when doors open

Now I’m working on Fogs auto on with headlights, No dazzle on the LED headlights, coding for steering tightness. If anyone has the codes for these let a brotha know!

Your car looks awesome! - the only thing that seem out of place is that number plate base. Mount the plate directly to the body - yeah!

Very nice car! Question about the coding...did you do the coding on your own? I'm always looking for LCI owners who have their own coding setup so I can get verification of coding syntax and functionality.

Congratulations again, great mods, and those fog lights are a huge improvement over pre-LCI!

Yes I did all the coding on my F10, E-SYS is so much easier than NCSExpert. If you ever need me to compare or test anything let me know. I'm hoping the "no dazzle" feature can be coded and that its not a hardware issue.

Love it. Those 19" M5 reps looks better than I thought they would. The LCI is really a home run out of all the F10's imo. I love mine.

I agree Alan. I almost pulled the trigger on a 13', glad I waited for the 14'. My only regret was not listening to you on the 20's! When are you getting your new wheels?

I am LOVING my 2014 M-sport with the sport suspension with my 20s. I'm glad I got a set before they were out of stock since they're not making anymore of them at the moment. I also got mine from Alan at **********s.com. Top notch dealer. This was my second set after putting a set on my 2011 550i.

I also had mine coded, but I think the no dazzle on the LEDs is a hardware issue. My coding guy confirmed it after doing some research. I tried to get it where the auto high beam assist would be on by default, but therein lies the hardware issue.

Excuse my ignorance, does "no dazzle" refer to the advanced splitting of the LED beams? I'm not aware of the correct terminology for that new feature in the LED headlights.
I'm very interested in the coding part since I would to tweak the way they work on my German car.

Yours should already be enabled since yours is EU spec.

I know, I'm referring to tweaking the parameters for it.

Yes ... what is no dazzle? I too opted for the LEDs on my '14 550xi ... but come to find out that they do not split-beam as they were advertised to do when I placed my order.

Is this code-able?

There seems to be so much confusion on this topic - but in your case it has been heavily discussed already that US cars are missing some hardware.

I was simply asking what 'no-dazzle' refers to here on this forum.
Is 'no-dazzle' what BMW officially calls the extra lighting features :S

Congrats, very nice, very decent and tasteful mods.

I guess I'm going to do very similar ones with my 535d. Just wondering -- what is the process of ordering M-performance real spoiler in the right color? My car comes in individual color and I'm not sure where can I get the spoiler in the right color.

Few options here -- you can buy the BMW Carbon-Fiber rear deck spoiler (PN: 51 62 2 163 505) or I've been told that there are a few other non-BMW options. With the BMW one, you either keep the original color or paint it yourself, and install. Directions on how to do this are posted on the board.

Or if you have 3 thumbs like me and know you'll screw it up, you can have your dealer do it for you. I'm leasing my 535d, so having the work done pre-delivery includes everything in the lease, and the cost is capitalized.

I ordered off eBay. It's just like oem and the paint is flawless and matches. All for $115 shipped. I used mdspoilers. You can search eBay for the seller. If he doesn't have the color you want listed, just email them and they'll make it for you. Easy 10 min install. Wipe the car and spoiler down with running alcohol. Apply the included double sided tape. Set the spoiler on your car and once you have it where you want it, mark the edges with painters tape. Now peel off the other side of the double sided tape and set it inside the markings you made with the painters tape. Press firmly starting at one side and move across to the other side. That's it, the tape sticks immediately.
