2014 BMW 550XI Dyno (MONSTER)
When I originally dynoed with my BMS Stage 1 Tune I did 440/490 with a gap of about 500RPM with no power! From 5k-5.5k with that setupt I pulled a 12.1 @ 113mph. I later found that the trap speed speed was really low for a car that supposedly traps 114mph stock.. I then brought the Car to BMW and guess what!! I had air/boost leaks! Along with some other stuff lol.
He car was serviced and fixed. When I got it it drove amazing! How amazing!? Look at what I dynoed today. Same place where I originally dynoed. Same conditions. BMS Stage 1 with premium 93 Fuel. 480AWHP and 528AWTRQ ! That is up 40HP and 38TRQ with no Power drop! with better more consistent power and throttle response. I believe I should Now be able to do 11.8-11.9 at 118mph+. . What do you guys think!! Highest dyno for a N63TU. Also.. When I uped the boost on the device I got 498AWHP and 548AWTRQ.. If BMS knew that you don't need higher octane to increase dial to make power! I actually did some more tests and stay tuned... These little JB boxes are Magic! I can only imagine with race gas! Arch I also wonder how you increased your dial up and didn't have af problems. Did they have a af reader? or Boost to see what boost levels you had.
Also at what setting did u make 498hp? maybe you will answer me here. since u have texting issues.

Nice, I am almost to my first BMW service. I want them to check for any boost leaks, check the injectors, and maybe change the tranny fluid (my car seems to have a lot of drivetrain whine). I haven't dynoed yet, and had been thinking my car was low on power, although lately my car seems to be running stronger.
Look forward to your times! |

I need to go back to VinnyTen to dyno. My car originally dyno'ed low because I was running on snow tires and a restrictive 535 exhaust. I dunno about your results though...No change in your tune and somehow you gained another 40whp and wtq on top of your original gains seems strange. I am skeptical that the JB is good for 80+whp and 100wtq with just fugging with the MAF readings...
Please post up a pic of your dealer invoice of the work done. Brand new 2014 550 with massive boost leaks is insane. Curious to know what they fixed/touched. I've scanned my car with the BT tool several times before and it never showed any codes indicating anything is wrong. Alan

Thanks for posting that. Did your car have a Check engine light on when it went in for service?
Two things I noticed after running the part numbers through realoem to see what they actually replaced on your car.... The crank case breather valve should not have any impact on power output from my understanding of what it does. Here's a pic of the part... Essentially all they did was replace two intake to turbo gaskets shown here (item 9). http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...13&fg=20&hl=13 Simple part that is easily replaceable/checked but I find it strange that it could leak there. That area does not see Boosted air at all. That is pure vacuum where the engine is sucking in air from the intake filters. Plus the only way I could see that having an impact on output is if it is letting in "un-metered" air into the system causing the ECU to freak out. Plausible I guess but worth another 40whp/wtq? I am going to check my car tomorrow and tighten the clamps there just for good measure. Also these gaskets are not unique to the N63TU from what I could tell so if this is a problem area for tuned cars I would expect to see the same issue pop up for pre lci 550's as well. I plan to go back to get another run at the dyno now that I'm back on my summer wheels/tires plus new 3" exhaust. Too bad it will never be apples to apples comparison since I am the only RWD tuned 550 on that dyno and I'm not sure if there are any calibration variances on the dyno settings between RWD and AWD Alan

Hue engine light was not on initially but I knew something was wrong when I beat crap out of May car 24 hours before track time with black and Scott. I must of launched the car over 50 times in 12 hours the day prior ahhaha and the following day My launch control would not work and the car felt slower.. From that day it was downhill lol.
What they did not put in report but rather over the phone with my advisor is. You have leaks in a few places that we need to "tighten up" they only replaced those parts but they tinkered and tightened up a lot apparently. ALSO!!! After my service I have no more power drop ! Perhaps a computer update? |

Usually they would put it in the work order if they updated the software because thats a billable item for them (by BMW) since it takes several hours to do.
Either way what matters is you are happy with the results and you need to rematch with Badblack now to see if you are really making those numbers

We need to get a dyno day going for you, me, BBlack, Scott and any other tuned 550's all on the same dyno. Comparing different dyno's in different conditions isn't telling much.

While fast 1/4 mile times is the ultimate test having you and OP on the same dyno on the same day, both AWD so we can see the graph plotted over each other would be very awesome to see. S1 vs S2 n63 vs n63TU etc...
