Or to buy new and keep for as long as possible.

Buying new is expensive but you know what you are getting and there are no hidden nasties.

Finding cars like yours or mine that have been loved are not easy to find so when someone finds one it's certainly a great deal

Good Luck!

What's next? Not a G30 I hope as they are a real let down compared to an F10

Seriously? I had a G30 last week and thought it was great. In what way is it a let down?

I think if you are used to a 3 or 4 series then you would be impressed but if you drive an F10 with a semi decent spec then you would feel underwhelmed.

Interior quality is a step down, sat Nav screen is awful and should be integrated, lights in roof centre at night look cheap and the LED lights around the doors look again tacky.

Refinement on a par with the F10 not better, vents in front wing plasticky and stuck on, shape from B pillar back is ugly (my opinion) overall not an improvement as much as it should be on the F10

I'm used to an F10. I agree with the observation about the Nav screen but I like the gesture control. I thought it drove better too. Still opinons are like arseholes but I would in no way describe it as a 'real let down'. Try an F3x if you want that dubious experience.

Drove a 4 Series a few weeks back and there is a sizeable difference between the F10 just don't think the G30 has moved the 5 series on enough for a new model.

I've had a 435D MS Xdrive and F10 535D MS, the new G30 does nothing for me, I bought the 2017 M3 Comp Pack, good size not too big and goes well.

Difficult to improve much on the F10 as it was so good so it won't be a quantum leap. Still struggle to find disappointment with it.

Obviously compared to 3 / 4 series there is a gulf, mainly because the 3 / 4 are such utter wank.

I'd agree regarding the F10/F11. A seriously well-designed and put together car.

However, I'd take serious issue with the F3x being described so poorly. It's well-built, it handles decently, space (considering the RWD transmission tunnel) is pretty good. It dosen't have the utter shite blinginess of a Merc, it's not going to have electrical glitches from day 3 (unlike a Jag), and it's not a Passat with a posh badge fitted (A4).
Just as the F10/F11 was a huge step up from the E60/E61, the F3x was a massive step forward from the E9x models.
Hate to say it, but someone who drives an F3x describing the F3x as 'utter wank' sounds like they've got one hell of a chip on their shoulder.
Annoyed that they aren't at the 'senior management' level where they get a 5 series, sort of thing.

Don't be ridiculous. I've no chip on my shoulder having had several F10s which I purchased new, privately, so keep your suppositions about my status on the management level to yourself.

I purchased an F31 as I wanted a touring for the dog and the F11 seemed too big. I foolishly ordered an F31 without test driving, reasoning that as it had the same engine as the F10 the refinement would be similar. It isn't, it's absolutely atrocious. My E92 was *much* better.

And since you're throwing around insults without even knowing me, I'll join in by suggesting if you think the F3x is well-built then you haven't driven anything of proper quality. See?

I've owned several BMW and other than handling well (which it undoubtably does) the F31 is really not good.

So you assumed that a 3 series would have the same refinement as a 5 series. And when it doesn't, it's not YOUR fault, but the fault of BMW.

I'd have thought absolutely everyone would assume the more luxurious, more expensive, more 'executive' car would have higher levels of comfort and refinement. Much like you would assume the 7 series would offer higher levels of refinement than the 5 series. To think otherwise would seem to require a certain level of idiocy.

Nothing more to really add there, is there.

Anyway, all this has gone decidedly off-topic.

To the OP : nice car. GLWTS -- though, like others, I suspect you'll struggle at that price. However, it's a stonking spec. If you can find someone after a car with all the toys on it, then you may well do OK !

I didn't say I was expecting the same, I said "similar" which you can look up in a dictionary. But it isn't similar, it's terrible.

And why does expecting a reasonable level of refinement equate to idiocy? My wife's Hyundai is considerably more refined and cost less than a third of the price. That car doesn't sound like a cement mixer full of bricks so I'm an idiot for not expecting the F31 to sound like that?

Still if you like yours I'm happy for you, I'm just an idiot with a chip on my shoulder. You're incredibly perceptive.

I'll agree that this has gone off topic somewhat so we'll leave it there.

That 535d looked lovely. Before buying G30 520d, test drove some 535d and they were a blast. However the ones in your price range were of high mileage (above 70,000 miles).

Good luck to you and the lucky future owner
