Not for the injectors, for the coolant lines. It was actually part of a service bulletin but they also work on the 550i. Where the coolant lines go into the hard lines they sit right above the turbo and rubber just doesn't last through those heat cycles.

I was looking at the M5 coolant lines compared to the N63, they are very different. Were the M5 heat shrouds large enough to cover the N63 hose and clamps?

Good Luck
Sorry to hear about your issues with the N63. I just traded my 2012 650i for a 2014 535i. I can now sleep peacefully at night.

Because the N55 doesn't have it's own set of issues Bulletproof BMW I6's stopped when they went from the M** to the N** engines.

Simple Google search netted me these results:
"BMW tech perspective here. The N55 is a better more reliable engine than the N54 was. Actually issues with the n55 are fairly few. On occasion I have had to do the HPFP, valvetronic motor, thermostat, and boost control solenoid. Cracked vacuum lines can cause low boost faults too. Oil leaks from the common areas include the oil filter housing and occasional oil pan gasket." "Both engines are good IMO. The main difference is the exhaust. The new N55 engine has one exhaust pipe the feeds from all 6 cylinder (for less fuel consumption) while the N54 had 2 pipes, one feeding from cylinders 1, 2, and 3 and another pipe feeding from cylinders 4, 5, and 6." I thought we'd gotten the GF a very reliable engine with the BMW I6 in her 08 535xiT, but after having to replace the engine myself last month after only 108k (failed injector flooded the engine and destroyed piston #1), more research showed me that the oil pump and/or piston failures are actually common (even found a YouTube video of someone disassembling their motor) and that the N55 isn't much different, proving this statement to be true: "Overall the N54 is a more complicated design. It also has some higher end components such as the piezo injectors and true dual turbos. N55 is what most would consider a cost reduced version of the N54." Point being it's still a BMW engine that's built with quantity over quality mindset, which seems to have been the other way around 15+yrs ago.
