Coding to remove the speed limiter

I have a 2011 535i base model car with the 6MT. I gather from reading threads on here that the car should have a 130mph speed limit, although I can't find anything that says that in the owner's manual. I am interested in doing the Texas Mile this Fall. I ran it a couple years ago in my e46 330i, and made 133.7mph. If this car is limited to 130mph then there is no point in spending a lot of money to go slower.

Can the 130mph speed limiter be removed/raised to 155mph? Can the dealer do it? Can you code the car to think it is an Msport? Is there really a 130mph limit or is it just urban legend?

Thanks

My understanding is the limit was set at 152mph.

In general, the main reason BMW limits cars to 130 mph is that this allows the car to ship from the factory with less expensive tires.

Anytime BMW increases the limiter to 155 mph then the car will include more expensive tires with a rating equal to or greater than the limiter.

So, in a sense, increasing the limiter is not really a no cost proposition.

This can be done at the factory by BMW.

BMW, in general, will not remove the limiter at a future time due to liability considerations with the tires. The car is spec'd with the tire rating.

The limiter can be removed by third parties. Please ensure your tires are rated for the application.

Duh on the tires. I've done the event before. The question is who can remove the limiter, other than buying a full up Dinan tune?

I clearly said in my first post that I have done the event before, and I have done over 130mph. There are cars going almost 300mph at the event, there are very thorough safety rules and inspections.

Besides, what do you know?

I can guarantee I don't know anywhere near as much as you do.

So nothing? Outside of Dinan, has anyone heard any way to up the speed limiter to 155mph, or completely removed?

I was not aware the JB4 removed the limiter. I have one, it just isn't installed yet.
