Active seat ventilation
Just wondering I know this is going to sound crazy, but here it goes. Does any know about retrofitting a F10 LCI (mocca napa) with ventilation. I know you have to change the leather cover for back and bottom along with the foam. Do you think it would easy or just find a wrecked on and do it that way? Thanks!

I totally forgot I had this feature. I think I used this the 2nd day I got my 550 and haven't used it since. The seats are too loud when turned on.
To the OP, are you talking about perforated seats or seat ventilation option? |

So Cal people have no need for this (lived there most my life), here in Texas it is a nice thing to have when as soon as you step outside and are instantly covered in sweat, those ventilated seats feel wonderful. Nothing like the Ford F150 cooled seats, but still better than not having them, especially with black seats. Sorry OP, can't help with your question Matt

Are you talking about the Seat Ventilation Option (Cooling seats) or just perforated leather?
They're 2 different things. And yes the seats make noise when the cooling is turned on. If you're referring to cooling seats, then you may need a different harness for the seats if they aren't prewired for it. As well as all the internal components for the fans. Your better off trying to find a wrecked car with the option Last edited by SLVSRFR; 09-18-2016 at 11:23 PM.. |

Wanna bet?? I seriously miss the cooling seats my LS had! I also HATE the wet/damp back! My next BMW will have the ventilated seats! I know they aren't the same as cooling seats but it will help.

1. Holes allow puke, milk, and farts to land in /dev/null 2. The air inside the seat is not the freshest air. 3. Effectiveness is between a 5 and 7 on scale of 1 to 1000. |

its prolly gonna be cheaper if you get the whole seat with Ventilated/cooling already installed than doing it yourself (even tho gonna need wiring harness and most likely programming) and you can sell yours after to get some $$$ back
P.S. i noticed that barely any of the 5 series have that option , maybe unless someone specifically ordered it. |

I don't think the BMW cooled seats work that well. My wife's Enclave has them and they cars I test drove didn't work nearly the same as the American cars so I gave up. My mocha seats do get hot but I try to park with the front facing away from the sun or in the shade and it helps a lot. You might have better luck with a window visor or tint vs. the headache and cost of trying to retrofit some expensive seats.

In between my E60 M5 and my F10 M5 I had a Cadillac Vsport, and those ventilated seats were actually cold air coming out. But with the F10 M5, like people say, they just don't work very well in the 5 series. If you listen very carefully, you can hear the fan turn on but there's really no cool air sensation coming out of them. In fact, sometimes I wonder if it actually turned the heater on rather than the ventilation when it's really hot out. When I'm standing outside the car and feel the air when the seat is turned on I can feel a slight coolness of the air coming out, but when you're sitting in the seat it's almost as if you're squishing the air channels and no air can blow out.
If it were me, knowing what I know now, I would not spend the money to upgrade the seat to ventilated seats. I believe you will be disappointed. Maybe you could retrofit some E60 5- series seats into the thing. Those seemed to work pretty well. |

F10's seats blow out. Put a tissue on your seat and you will see it blow around and not be sucked in .

I live in Malaysia, and have the ventilated seat option. It blows air and is not cold. But it definitely prevents a sweaty back, which was my intention given how hot it is here and how I used to exit my previous BMW after every drive which did not have this option. Initially I too was disappointed that the air was not colder, but over time, I realized that if it had indeed been cold air, my muscles would have cramped up during a long drive. Hence I think that's why BMW do not vent cold air thru the seats. Believe it or not, but I actually turn on seat heating and ventilation on a long drive to prevent backaches (I have a slipped disc) while ventilation prevents sweating.

That is what I want, I am about 5'9" 200lbs and I don't know why I sweat like no tomorrow, so that is why I want the seats. I have tried them and they help me out.
