F10/F11 VDC - does it resist roll?
I’m looking at ordering a 535d M Sport touring with VDC, in the UK. Private purchase. Likely to sell at maybe 5 to 8 years old.
I’m resisting full Adaptive Drive because of purchase cost, complexity & possible repair costs; also the fact that this may even depress the value of the car once outside of warranty (is this true?). I plan to stick with the standard M Sport 18” wheels – because I prefer the style and want to preserve refinement. VDC brings reversion to standard (non-MSport) suspension and therefore ride height; some say even slightly higher than standard. I’m concerned that the car may roll a lot – more than an MSport (seems likely) and maybe even more than a non-MSport. I read reports that VDC alone (not with the full Adaptive Drive which includes ARS too) will resist body roll to an extent. Is this true, and if so by how much? Would appreciate feedback from anyone with direct experience of both VDC-equipped and non-VDC F10 or F11, preferably F11 since the rear air suspension will likely have an impact, in either SE or M Sport guise. |

No, not really. But I think it's better than the standard suspension. If you want to resist body roll, get the Adaptive Drive or get bigger sway bars.
