Rear End... additional issues

Anyone think of a reason why my "manual" trunk button won't work after a rear end collision?

I haven't been able to open it via exterior button but still can open via FOB and comfort access foot action still works.

It could be that one of the Comfort Access cables has been pinched from the hit. The sensor runs along the back bumper cover and wouldn't have much protection from a hit. You can start by disconnecting the Comfort Access module and seeing if that resolves it. All you'd need to remove is the diffuser to access it - which will give the opportunity to also visually inspect if the sensor is damaged.

Good luck!

My 2011 button recently stopped working. I probably will have a hard time explaining, but the rubber button split and by doing so, the microswitch that is actuated, wasn't being actuated. It's kind of a pain in the _ss to remove as you need to remove the trunk lid trim, but after doing so, you can push the trunk switch out and replace or repair as needed.
Obviously if this is the case, the accident had nothing to do with the problem.
