driver seat no high enough on 520d semi electric seat
hey guys.. i just bought a silver 520d f10 a couple days ago. it's a great car so far.
the only issue (so far) i have is the driver's seat. i felt that it does not go high enough. this is a semi electric seat where only 2 electric adjustments can be made, the seat height and the angle of recline. the forward and backward adjustment is manual and so is the seat angle adjustment. i will visit the dealer later this week, but was wondering if anyone else ran into this same issue. yesterday i had a chance to sit in a 523i demo car which has a full electric seat. and sure enough i was able to adjust the seat high enough that there is only about 3 finger space between my head and the ceiling of the car. i asked the sales guy but he wasn't knowledgeable enough to explain whether my car (520d) and the 523i should have different seat height.. i hope this is just an issue with my car that can be fixed.. otherwise i would be very dissappointed...:-( i did test drove the exact same model car about a month ago but couldn't recall if this was an issue at that time. |

It seems you have the Sports Seat, and the other car with fully electrical seats has Comfort seats. Way different. The comfort seats is great, but expensive.

interesting... never noticed this fact.. i had an E46 before with a premium package and it must have the comfort seats also. i never knew there is such a thing. i knew that there is an option for thigh support like in M3 for example. thank you for pointing this out kave..

I wonder if its model year related
I drove a 2010 model which had part electric seats and felt even with the seat at its highest I was sitting on the floor. I've driven a couple of 2011 models and they certianly felt higher This was a concern for me as I recently bought a 2012 model with full electric seats but seat height is fine and it goes up high. I'm 5'10" and with seat at its highest have about 2-3 inches headroom |

Ye same here, had a 2011 520d and changed it to a 2012 520d a few weeks ago, the seating position is definitely different, in my case the seat will not go low enough compared to the 2011 model. Went to a different dealer and sat in a 2011 build and it was fine. Looks like they made a change to the seating position.

Maybe you would be better looking on EBay or going to a car breaker for orginal parts....IMO, some of this after market stuff can easily be a recipe for trouble...
