BMWUSA.COM now shows the 2013 F10 5 Series!
About time!
Looks like we were wrong about the 2013 550i not getting the 445hp N63Tu motor. IT IS GETTING IT! The N63Tu gives the 550i +45hp / +30 lb-ft torque over N63 engine. **EDIT**Looks like BMW messed up and changed all the specs back down to 400HP! Sigh.... Alan

Click on Features and Specs....
Looks like they still need to update parts of the site to reflect the new specs. Alan

1. I can officially lament the passing of the sport pack on both the 50i and 35i. The M Sport rear bumper never looked right to me. Its now the SOLE sport pack. Also... thanks BMW for not updating the 5 series page with the beautiful wheels from the old sport pack 535i.
2. The special individual line looks amazing. I am coming around to liking the 19s on this package. Which keeps the look intact from the 2011 -2102 bumpers. 3. No sport wheel unless I want an M wheel? Really BMW? If I dont want M sport, i have the thin, no sporty wheel? 4. looks like adpative drive is standard. stadard car has sport-comfort settings now? |

one correction... i can get the sport wheel... if i get the individual wheel. But we lose heated feature. I cant win?
Can a person order a sport wheel on the side? seems like the only thing missing that can be added, besides the wheels from the old sport pack... |

Does it make sense to fully equip a 550i still? My thought is yes if you want a refined fast car. But now the 550i at 445hp is a real beast... |

What a great way to wake up in the morning, finding out that the 2013 550i is getting the 445hp motor!
The reason the M Sport Package is now $2900, is that it no longer includes Dynamic Damper Control, which is $1000. So, in actuality its the same price as last year. My only complaint would be that you can no longer order the 16 speaker Premium Hi Fi sound system as a seperate option, as it only comes in the Executive Package. But I'll gladly trade the stereo for the new engine. Also, it will be interesting to see what the MPG rating is on the new engine, as it will be offered without start/stop. (With start/stop, it's listed as a 25% improvemnt over the 400hp version.) As for the website showing the old HP figures, BMW is quite bad about updating the information on the model overview pages. Up until yesterday, they still had a video stating the HP rating as 360 from the E60 era. |

One Correction. I just noticed in the build picture that the 550i does have the auto start/stop button. I can't find a mention of start/stop in the specs, but it's definitely there in the picture.

From my understanding, it does not have start/stop. I have seen an options list like you get in the back of the brochure on another site, and it has start/stop for most engines, but not the 550.

One disappointing thing I noticed is that if you select the M Sport Package on the 2013 550i, you're prevented from ordering any of the BMW Individual leather or exterior paint options. I wonder if there's a way around this. I want to order the M Sport Package (which features the M steering wheel) AND the BMW Individual paint/leather options. Any suggestions?

I just don't get it, The 535 needs a power bump more than the 550i, The new A6 is eating into the sales of 535 with its specs and handling.Yet BMW wants to update this monster first?? WTH
The 550i at 400 hp is really fast to start off with.Sure i wouldn't mind the extra ponies...but I am pretty sure more sales stay with the 535 engine.I don't get the logic behind this move. edit: I just checked the 550 GT[which cad a confirmed update in engine N63TU] specs and its even more confusing It states; "4.4-liter, 32-valve 400-hp V-8 engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, piezo direct fuel injection, 4 overhead camshafts, and Double-VANOS steplessly variable valve timing" Last edited by luvthestck; 08-08-2012 at 07:41 AM.. |

The HP bump is kind of annoying since I literally picked my 2012 up 2 weeks ago but oh well I probably wouldn't have been able to get as good a deal on the new model. Can anyone confirm if there is a bump in torque too or is it limited to HP only? I wish BMW would let you bring it in and pay for the upgrade since it is most likely limited to software that would cost them pennies to install. I would pay a chunk of change for the extra 45 HP. Damn technology always out dating itself!

BMW lists the torque rating for the N63TU in the 7 series as 480, so that's a 30 ft lbs improvement. Also, the improvement is a result of the addition the Valvetronic system (variable valve timing and lift system), so it's not a software upgrade.
I'm also surprised to see the 535 not get the power increase. |

My guess is that Bmw is going to bump the hp up on the 535 in 2014 when the LCI comes out. There is also rumors about how the new 4 series coupe will have a new motor so who knows if bmw is purposely holding out until next year. Sucks for 535 guys, great for the 550 owners that got a nice bump for free.

^^ Nope. I've been waiting for the 2013 F10 since March and i simply can't wait any longer with our first baby on the way. My 535 has been at the port since 7/27 and still waiting for it to be transported to the dealer.
With cars there will always be something new coming out and you just have to jump in at some point. Sometimes the timing is perfect like when i got my LCI E90 Msport and this time I am about a year off. The power bump doesn't bother me as much since I am going to tune the 535 anyways and chances are whatever Bmw comes out with it won't be higher than a tuned N55. I am more concerned about major body changes not limited to just bumper refresh. Alan
