Manual Operation of the Automatic Trunk?
Hello,
I have the automatic trunk option in my f10 and really enjoy it. However, not many people know about this feature of my car and occasionally there is someone who tries to close it with force and it FREAKS me out!! For example, the other day a friend tried closing it and noticed it has some resistance so they tried to push it even harder until I realized and quickly pressed the button to close it.... My question is, does closing the trunk manually damage its motor? Is it designed to be operated manually when needed? Should I even be worried every time I notice someone trying to close it without pressing the button? Thanks! |

Take a look at your owners manual. The section on trunk operation states that you can close it manually.

Perfect,
Thanks. Looks like it had slipped by me as there is only 1 sentence about it. For future reference here is what the manual says; Manual operation In the event of an electrical fault, manually operate the unlocked trunk lid slowly and smoothly. |
