For Americans, a feature that probably no one will use are the SINGLE-SIDE parking lights.
With the car OFF, if you hold the direction signal in one direction for a second or two, the parking lights will illuminate on one side of the car. I see this all the time in the UK and Germany, but it's not something Americans have to do. |

I looked everywhere (I think), where do you find Google? Thanks!.[/QUOTE]
On the 520d it may be an extra option, but if it is not, then If you use the Idrive , go to menu, then BMW services, then go to BMW online , you will get a window with several options, one is the actual weather, another the news , and also google, it should be in your manual, |

I don't know if this is the same as everyone else but.
If you let it click from the left (DS/M) to (N/P) when putting in Park, After a while it gets jammed Especially when using the M feature. And when you hit <P> it's all *click click click click click* *GONG!* |

That google menu is very limited, you do NOT get full google search. I hope the new so called "Google search" will be a full google site, I doubt it though.

On the voice contact question, did you set up the "Voice Phonebook?" It appears to be different than the "regular" phone book. See below:
Voice phone book* Depending on how your vehicle is equipped, it may be necessary to create your own voice phone book. The entries must be entered using voice activation and are separate from the memory in the mobile phone. Up to 50 entries can be set up. Saving an entry 1. ›Save name‹ 2. Say the name. Do not exceed the speaking duration of approx. 2 seconds. 3. Say the phone number after being prompted to do so by the system. 4. ›Save‹ Reading and selecting entries 1. ›Read phone book‹ The dialog for reading the phone book is opened. 2. Say ›Dial number‹ when the desired entry is read. Selecting an entry 1. ›Dial name‹ 2. Say the name after being prompted to do so. 3. Confirm the query with ›Yes‹. |

Just a function I use which I want to share. I saved the menu "where are the closest gas-station" from the GPS on one of the preset-buttons. Practical when you are out traveling, just push the button and instantly it tells you where the nearest gas-stations are located.

From memory: When you are in the GPS window, Go to "point of interest", "present location"(or something like that), Category: Car, Then "petrol-station". Then press-and-hold one of the radio preset-buttons.
