F10 spark plug torque and gap
Looking for the torque and gap for the OEM plugs on my 2013 f10 550. Yes, I know they come pre gapped, but they are not alway in spec. Yes I know plugs have a crush gasket but I want the exact torque value because it is easy to torque the plugs as they SHOULD be if possible.

Bosch plug, ZR5TPP33, BMW Spark Plugs Plug Set High Power Double Platinum Bosch OEM 37582 (8pcs), on Amazon for $87.70 (http://www.amazon.com/Spark-Plugs-Do...=A39702CCOVJH2) or at Rock auto for 70.00.
So I have 23 nm, or 16.96 ft pounds for the torque and .8 mm which equals .0315 (let's say .030 or .032) on your spark plug gaping tool. According to website https://www.rexbo.eu/bosch/spark-plu...00151&at=38524 This is for a 2013 F10 550 xi, but this plug should fit 2010 till now: Built: 02.2010 today Performance: 300 kW (408 hp) Engine size: 4395 cc Fuel: Petrol Engine code: N63 B44 A Engine Type: Petrol Engine Cylinder: 8 Valves: 4 Body Type: Saloon Drive Type: Rear Wheel Drive Fuel Mixture Formation: Direct Injection There you go, all the information you need in one place. Will post pics and install procedure so you can use this as a DIY thread. Just to put the myth to rest, the OEM BMW plugs are identical in every way to the rock auto plugs listed above for $70.00. Same number, same engraving, just missing the BMW symbol. Will be doing plugs in next to weeks and draft up th diy. Have to complete my surround view retrofit first Last edited by mikekilpatrick; 02-04-2019 at 05:36 PM.. |

No worries. I am going to gap them at .030. As an FYI, FROM BMW they were OFF at like .028 to .029. NEVER TRUST pre gapped plugs! ALWAYS check them! I also purchased the BOSCH plugs off of ROCKAUTO and BMW, going to do a side by side comparison showing they are the same plug.

Well, on the OEM BMW spark plugs box, it says 23NM for the torques spec, right along the lines of the recommendations as listed on the website posted above. Several of the OEM plugs came with the .0315 gap as listed as well. I would say the .031 would be a good number for the 2011-2013 N63 550. Will check with those guys as well. Next time I spend 30 bucks for the BMW TIS website, I will check it there as well. Thanks for the heads up.

I assumed it was a typo, just didn't want a DIYer making the mistake.
