N63 Flash tune coming soon!!

Pro Tuning Freaks stated that they will be releasing a bunch of tunes for the F-series. I confirmed with them it wasn't just for the N63TU, it's for the N63 as well.

Check out the details on the link below. Can't wait to see the results.

Don't get your hopes up. Many have promised none have delivered.

I'd say I still hold out some hope for tuning in the future, but the fact that the N63 DME is a tough nut to crack coupled with relatively small numbers, I just don't see much to make it worth it to a tuner. If these guys have proven they can do it, that's outstanding, but even BR told me they could tune them. Of course the three tuners here stateside that BR directed me to, said they couldn't do it.

I question whether these guys have lumped all the F chassis cars together, and are offering up a "yeah, sure we can" versus actually having a proven tune stored on an N63 DME. I finally ordered a stage 2 upgrade from BMS, so that will have to work for now.

I've learned to not hold my breath with the N63. I feel like we get something like this every month. Then nothing.

a few companies around here stopped tuning n63tu cars because once you go past what BMS does to them there is a high chance of the engine detonation. so soon will be hard to find anyone to tune even the n63tu.

I believe eventually there will be a tune for the n63 but the cars who have them are still too new and barely now coming out of warranty. I find it hard to believe that you can get a fucking tune for a piece of shit Honda and not a significantly better car like the f10 550.

Detonation is an easy issue to solve, the problem is a shop trying to break someone elses record while using your car as the sales pitch. Its simple, as you add more boost, you either have to retard timing or add octane. By just cranking boost further and further without pulling timing, detonation occurs. While my 12 years of tuning experience is on domestic vehicles, its apples to apples against BMW and the same methods apply. The same weaknesses from using tiny turbos to try and make big power and the obsession with dyno numbers over a safe car is what causes an engine to fail.

The tunes are out there. AJ had a tune ready on the bench for mine, the issue is the interface used to deliver the tune found in other BMWs that share our computer doesnt exist on the F10, and they aren't able to bench flash or use a BMW tool through the diag port. With this strange issue, and then on top of it only 3 model years of the car, its just an expensive solution with a sub par payoff. While 10-15 people may jump on the train right away that haven't either sunk money into Dinan or Alpina, that hardly offsets the costs of R&D, testing etc.

I hope to have answers soon from ESS!

Interesting what Steve says. And it will be more difficult to flash these cars. Basically you will need a whole new ecu/dme as the oem one keeps compensating for all the piggy back devices we install.

Steve makes it seem like its impossible to tune, get the fuck out of here! Theres more people tuning no days than ever before look at underground racing, alpha, lingenfelter, saleen, rousch, Nelson racing engines, plus a thousand other guys doing it in their own garage! Look at all the 1000-2000hp Lamborghinis, GTR's, Porsches and LS powered cars on the road and track, if what "Steve" says was true none of that would be happening. Even those hillbillys from the OKC can tune, this sounded like a jab at the people making piggy backs and him glorifying his skills at making underpowered bullshit. Somebody out there will figure out a way to tune the n63 and they will do it just to prove it can be done. I don't believe all that "there is no market" bullshit, once someone figures it out and word gets out they will create the market for it. Nothing is impossible in the ecu cracking world eventually it will be done, otherwise no cars woulda ever been tuned. I'm jus sayin.... . . . .
