Snow Tires for F10 535i xDrive
Shopping for snow tires for my 2013 535i xDrive (non M-Sport)
Stock OE size is: 245/45R18 1. Does it make sense to put 225/50R18 as recommended by TireRack? How does it compare with the stock size? 2. Can I go 1 inch smaller to 225/55R17? I asked a local tire shop here in Toronto. They said 17" rim can't fit in a 535i. Thanks! |

You can use 225/50/18, but I'd go with 245/45/18.
At least 17" OEM f10 will fit the 535i, aftermarket wheels might not.

17s come on a base 5er. it would depend on the wheel i guess. im going to test fit a style 284 17x8 et34 from my e90 on my f10 tonight and if they clear the brakes ill be ordering 225/55/17. Im hoping this works out as it will save me almost $1k for a winter setup.

I was at my local dealership yesterday looking at BMW winter wheel and tire combinations. The parts guy said that BMW recommends 17's in the winter. You may want to check with your local parts dept for recommended sizes.

while i completely agree with you. 17" winter runflats are $100 cheaper per wheel and i already have the 17s sitting unused. I have 19" 331s on there for the summer already.

so 17x8 et34 rubs on the caliper of the front brakes. possibly with a 5mm spacer it would clear but im not going to take a chance. will be looking for 18s now.
do you all suggest rfts or go with non-rfts?

No Run Flat's. I've got Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2, not sure if they available in US.
