interested to hear your thoughts on this once installed.
i don't care for the 'pop out' feature so much...not sure how it'd look with our dashboards... but upgrading the hardware is always good, to give additional functionality. I am looking at adding the mmi prime for car play....you can find them for < 300 all day long compared to bimmertech's 650. Looking forward to see what your thoughts are on this... |

tracking info just updated, showing delivery on Wednesday. work depending I'll get it installed Thurs or Fri. try to take pics along the way or maybe a youtube clip afterwards on initial thoughts.
not to worried about the OS and reliability, guys/gals have been using these screens in the other platforms without much issue. this company (Avin) seems to provide some decent products. this is a new screen so hopefully that stays the case with this unit. OP any updates on yours as well? |

received mine earlier, luckily had a break in work to install. watched a YouTube video on install in a f30 to get a good idea of parts breakdown, wiring specialties, etc. pretty simple stuff, mine had the green and black harness that has to be plugged into the new T harness off the radio itself. other than that it was all regular hookups and mounting of antennas.
words of wisdom to the OP and others that install. the iDrive menus were not scaled properly to the new screen. some of the edges were cut off. I had to go to the Android screen, far right to settings, bottom to "factory" menu and use pin code 2846 to open the advance menu. this allowed me to get to the options to change screen setup to my oem 10.25 screen and fixed the iDrive resolution. after that i just played with all the new features. lots to learn but first impressions it looks amazing and works seemless as expected. pic overload below as long as they attach right. haven't added pics to a post via the app before so if they don't work please inform and give me tips to do it proper. OP I still look forward to your impressions as well and operation tips if you get any after usage. |

Looks awesome cb2004mj . Very interested to hear how you like it after a bit a longer term test. Have you had an opportunity to use the CarPlay functionality?

haven't used car play because I didn't have my cable in my car. have to get a data sim card to really enjoy the Android side of it. hotspot tethering wasn't really doing it for me, as service around me sucks. the device though functions beautifully so far. not really any lag or issues besides having to setup screen resolution for the iDrive menus to fit proper. to the previous comment or, only oem screen pic I have is of it not fitting. it now looks like the stock screen....just a lot bigger. all menus, options, etc are there. then you touch the display and switch over to the droid side. litterly drove to work with it all oem. sat and maps pulled up like stock using steering wheel controls to change stations, adjust volume. etc

Can you take a picture from the back so we can see the whole front dash?

At least he appreciate your size.
Joke aside, does the connector come with support for 3rd party reverse and front camera? Currently I have third party reverse camera and front camera and additional box to support the camera. Thinking to eliminate the box by switch to this giant android head unit. |

yes you can use third party front and rear cameras. it's actually an option to add those cameras with the unit if you don't have them and want them. I'm not 100% if the units connection will match your existing aftermarket camera. the site has good pics of the harness so maybe that will shed some light. i didn't really pay attention. mine was all plug and play upgrade
