If you plan to drive it in the snow - yes.

Just thought I would clarify and hopefully bring this thread to a dignified end.

What tires are on the car now? Even if it doesn't snow there and you have summer tires, you will need different tires for the winter. Summer tires are not compatible with cold weather with or without snow. Here in Southern California, I don't have to worry about the problem.

Its a big misconception that Winter tyres are only for snow ! .....

Take a look at this and many other clips like it on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clSC7APitaQ

If the temp drops below 7 degrees where you drive then well worth the change IMHO

Cheers

Summer tires are useless below 40degrees F.

Depends on how you drive, what your stock tires are, and how much snow you'll be driving in.

I did a driver's skills winter training a couple of years ago.
I had my e92 330d on winter rfts with me, and some other guy had a e91 330d on summer rfts.
When we started practicing emergency stops (on a dry road at 2 degrees C. / 36 F.) at 50-60-70 kmh, the difference in stopping distance was simply stunning.

Best not to drive the car except in the summer.

Yes, agree!

You need winter tires if you're driving on summer tires now.
Summer tires become hard below 40 degrees. You can have some cold days in NJ - snow or not.
