So over of the exploding tires when I run over small pebbles, the warped metal side walls causing vibrations and the tires only lasting 10k miles. I figured out how to do a run flat delete. So here's my DIY STEP 1: I went on tirerack.com and ordered 4 Sumitomo HTRZ III 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 non run flats. I went from 245 in the fronts to 255, and 275 rears to 285. Rims fit them perfectly front rim size 20x8.5 rears 20x9. The front is super flush and the rears could use a 10mm spacer or so.

Vibrations cured, explosions cured, road noise significantly reduced, traction increased, driving confidence regained.

Waiting for the Koni adjustable to arrive via Extreme Power House. Mike any updates? Hehe

I won't be able to really test these tires until I get the shocks in, which should be in about a week or two. But so much better in terms of absorption to road defects. There is some rubbing in the front, but only when I bottom out because of the blown shocks not due to turning. Lock to lock has plenty of clearance. Hurry up Koni sports struts and arrive! Once those are on, that bottoming-out rubbing should stop. Oh, I guess I should mention that I'm lowered 1" in the front on Eibach sport springs 0.8" in the rear and no rubbing on blown shocks on the rear 285's.

I'll redo my 0-60 since I've recently lost about 15 lbs of unsprung weight all the way around. Should be good for 0.1 seconds faster.

I agree, the front looks perfectly flush with a 255 tire!

The first picture of the rear wheel, is that with 275 or 285?
I thought a 285 tire on 9" wide wheel would look more meaty since it's mounted on a narrower wheel than the technical spec recommends.

285/30-20 has 10" wheel width as recommended, 9.5-10.5" allowed.

The rear is a 285 picture. I was a little bummed, but nothing a small spacer can't fix. I was reading people with G35's on other forums that they were fitting 305's on 20x9.5 rims. I thought I was getting brave with a 285. Maybe a 295 would of been a better upgrade.

Run flats are the worst, I will definitely be replacing my Dunlops once the wear out - happily onlinetires.com is down the street from me

I would say, since there is no room in the trunk for a spare, I would get this instead:

The offset of you front looks better vs the rear so I believe you should do the 10mm spacer back there to give more aggressiveness. Also the front tire looks to have more meat to it vs the front.

Are those Style 356 OEM wheels:
8,5x20 front ET 33
9x20 back ET 44

If so you would save a lot of unsprung weight by going with different wheels since they weight 34,4 pounds each! Probably close to 10lbs per corner can be saved with forged wheels. But for OEM wheels they look very good so less tempting to invest for other wheels I guess...

10mm I think is going to flush the rear too.
Yes, those are the OEM 356 rim 20x8.5 / 20x9.
Yes, they are stupid heavy, but look great. Upgraded rims are at the bottom of the list, but in the quest for a faster 535 an additional 10 lbs per side is something I'll reconsider.
The fronts are 255 on a 20x8.5 rim, really pushing the limits on the front. When I do it again I'm going back to 245.

On that note of lighter rims, any suggestions or links?

For me, since I like being a little different, I am looking at Klassen's for wheels. Specifically their M62 SDC monoblock wheels in a gloss bronze. They are about 12 lbs lighter per wheel than OEM 20s, look great, and not very common. I am thinking 20X9 front and (hopefully) 20X11 rear. With a nice custom offset so they sit flush without rubbing.

Nice wheels, they look sweet on that blue M5 in the gallery. Now to figure out what color goes well with Alpine White.

To answer you question about wheels many aftermarket wheels even not forged will give you weight saving over OEM.

I went with Niche Form (since I am on a budget) which weight around 28 lbs per corner (6 lbs less than your OEM). In combination with continental tire I save 8-9lbs per corner vs OEM 19" Msport setup.

Also you say that the run flats are heavy but you chose a non run flat heavy tire...
your 255s weight 27lbs and your 285s 31lbs. My OEM LS2 runflat 19" tire are 32lbs...

In 20" Michelin PSS 245s weight 23lbs and 285s 27lbs...

So for a rear wheel with Forgestar + Michelin PSS you would be around 53lbs vs 65,4lbs with your current setup. So another 12lbs saving per corner!

All this saving mean less stress on suspension, better acceleration, improved fuel economy etc.

In my case though I am not looking for maximum performance otherwise I would not have started from a 535I so I am happy with my setup.
