3) Dirt over the sensors. Keep the area clean.

Same things affect Mercedes sensors.

Havent checked for it on the F10 yet, but on some older models dealers could set the sensitivity to a more sensitive position for areas of the world where the sensors get confused.
Agree. Mine works perfectly, but I keep my windshield really clean.

Just sayin'...
Well, make sure you are not confusing activation of your headlights with your DRLs.

Whenever your headlights snap on due to low light your dash displays will turn from white to red.

Now, in auto headlight mode when you pull out of your garage on a bright morning you should see your dash change from red to white. Now, exit your car while running and parked in your driveway in the light.

If you think headlights are on then go to settings and uncheck daytime running lamps.

Now step out if your car and your headlights are off.

Please be sure to immediately recheck and activate your daytime running lamps as they do save lives.

I'm not sure that is correct my dash display turns from white to red at different times to the headlights switching on and off. They either use a different sensor or a different algorithm for the two.

Reading through this, I;'m wondering my having the headlights on is bothering people?
Just don't get the issue myself. If it was the other way round I'd understand buit if they on during the day,k so what?!

For the recordm I have a April 2012 build and mine seem very logical as to whetehr they are on. If the wipers are on (ie its raining) they come on. As soon asyou tunr wpers off, and its not too dark, they come off. Not had a single occasion when I thought I need to be manually overiding them for any reason.

Just my opinion of course!

Why does it bother you guys so much that the headlight is on in the day time, you cant see it, so who cares. In some part of the world, it is require to have headlights on at all times. I just leave it on auto and forget about it, auto headlights is one the best feature in today's cars.

In Canada, you can't turn off the DRLs.
My auto lights turn on in bright sunlight but usually when it is low in the sky and the system is designed to make you highly visible both front and rear. Ever been in bright sunlight where you can't always see the guy in front? When the full headlights are on the rear lights are also on so I feel there is a logic to having the full system on in bright sunlight thats low in the sky.
My dash stays white in sunlight even with the headlights on but turns red when it gets darker outside. I think the "DOT" controls that.

The adaptive part of the headlights only works with 'auto' mode.
Wipers on='auto' headlights on.
All these features were the same in my E60, except the colour of the dash, of course.
