OT Rant

My neighbour had an issue with his gas supply yesterday and had engineers out from Northern Gas Network to sort the issue. Unknown to me they decided to do a bit of excavation work right next to my car, covering it in aggregate dust and chippings. To compound the matter for some reason they've decided to give the dirt and grit a nice rub on the boot lid, bumper and rear panels.

After washing the car, as to be expected I'm left with swirl marks and light surface scratches. Just sent a compaint to the gas network asking for them to pay for a correction detail. Wish me luck!

Rant over

Yeah it's frustrating Piers but In the big scheme of things there's a lot worse things that can happen.

Hopefully they will understand their wrong doing and pay to put things back as they were.

You would of thought they would have the courtesy and professionalism to ask you to move the car.

Hope you get it sorted.

Well, after spending the whole of yesterday afternoon and this morning the car is just about as it was. Still a couple of marks that I can't get out that need further attention.

I recon that looking at my hourly rate the gas people owe me the best part of £ 300.

Can't wait to get my summer wheels back on!

All they had to do was knock on your door and advise you of the works, leaving it to you to make the call on whether you accept the risk of leaving it be or moving it.

I'm in construction and always advise people to move cars when undertaking works that could potentially damage them. I was demolishing a building recently and although I fenced off the area directly in front of the site I had a neighbour come over and complain that he had just washed his car and that it was now dusty. I gave him £25 to keep the peace and told him to get a wash and wax, I find it pays to be courteous and deal with people's concerns.

The annoying thing was that when they turned up I did say that if needed I would move the car rather than risk any damage. That's before I knew that they would be digging up the street. Bunch of tossers!
