Dot on fuel range guage

On my 550xi with enhanced display, there is a white dot near the "empty" end of the fuel range gauge below the speedometer. This dot seems to remain around zero but I have seen it move over about 1/4" also. Does anyone know what this is for?

It shows you how much fuel you will use to get to your nav destination.

i.e. if you're close to your destination the dot will be somewhere near zero. If you're miles away, it'll be somewhere further right.

It allows you to plan if you can make it on the current fuel .. how much you'll have left when you get there, that kind of thing.

One of the displays, I think the one you can toggle though (the average mpg one) will show you distance to destination and maybe time of arrival shows up somewhere as well. Just noticed that the other day along with the "dot" on the fuel graph.

Thanks! I was sure something logical was going on and now it makes sense.

If you have no destination in the nav, the white dot will disappear.

I thought it was simply remaining distance to nav destination.
