BMW "Teleservice"

What is "Teleservice" all about? I found this screen on my iDrive system, but haven't scheduled any service visits.

Why is the car interacting with BMW on its own, what information is being given and what can change – programing-wise – without our knowledge?

If your car requires a condition based service (CBS), then the telematics system will contact BMW to let them know. In turn, your dealer will call you to schedule an appointment.

Telematic services are services propagated over a data or phone link within your vehicle.

Hmm. Strange; I've never received a call concerning servicing. How would it know which dealer I would use anyway...

It is either the dealer you bought it from in the first place, or the one you have defined in mybmw.com, mein-bmw.de, etc.

I really appreciate this service. In my previous E60, when I was approaching the 60,000 km mark, I kept postponing the call to arrange an appointment. Then, one day I received a call from my dealership (the car had ca. 59,500 km) in order to schedule it. Nice!
