First time looking for a 5 Series
Hi all. Right now I've got an e90 335i, and thinking about looking for a CPO 5 series. There's zero rush on this purchase so I've got time to look for the right one.
I'm very familiar with the 3 series packages and what they entail. For instance, the Sport package gives much better seats. On a 5 series in the 2013-2014 range, is there any packages that you'd not go without? For instance, one 2013 I'm looking at has the "Executive Package" which seems to be pretty comprehensive. Any advice is appreciated! |

For 2013, get the Technology Pkg. A must have for me - Large NAV, HUD, and blind spot warning. Front and top cameras are features I found out I have to have on every vehicle I buy from now on.

Braumin, take a look at the brochures, order and price guides to get an idea of what packages are desired.
Executive, Luxury seating are required for me. Most others are on my "would be nice" list. Of course a fully loaded car would be ideal, I just don't want to pay the premium they demand... 2013 Order and Pricing Guides http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691825 2014 Guide http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691825 Brochures http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/...eries_2013.pdf http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/...eries_2014.pdf Goodluck Matt Edit: 2014 was the LCI year, so besides the cosmetic changes there was also a lot of option changes, things that were one way in 2013 aren't necessarily the same in 2014, so be careful when looking. Not all Exec packages are equal... Last edited by SchillerM; 06-17-2016 at 05:59 PM.. |

As many have said here and in other threads, DHP (that includes both dynamic dampers/shocks and active role stabilisation) significantly improves the ride and handling over stock base-level suspension. Very few Canadian F10s have the other potential upgrade - the sport suspension, as it was/is not available on xDrive cars. The comfort seats are also a 'must have' in my opinion.
I believe Canadian packages are subtly different than the US packages.

Hey thanks so much for the tips and the buying guides for older model year cars. Definitely need the cold weather package but I'd guess that's on most Canadian cars already. DHP is likely off the table if it's not available with xDrive - that's the case with the 3 series I have as well. I kind of like xDrive for the winter.
At least I have an idea now as to what to look for. Generally you'll see ads that say the car is loaded, but really it's very far from it. |

Sorry - I think I was not clear. DHP is available on xDrive - it is on my 2013 535xi. I highly recommend it. The '704' sport suspension is another option for upgrading suspension, is different from DHP, and is available on non-xDrive cars. It is a passive suspension with improved springs and I imagine other components like sway bars.
