Car Forgets Settings

My F10 (spec details below) keeps forgetting my settings such as the last media played, perspective view on the navigation map, automatic day / night on the navigation map and assignment of facvourites buttons (it keeps swapping the phone numbers assigned to buttons 5 and 6). I have reset profiles, tried different keys and set up new profiles without luck. It even deletes the profiles of its own accord with the exceptionof one profile. I first set the car up with 2 keys in the car; could that be part of the problem?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Have the dealer check for error codes. I would suspect a problem with the battery or the electrical system. It could be intermittent.

Booked in for Wednesday. Not sure the Service Agent understood the issue but he said I can explain it to the mechanic and workshop foreman who are well versed in the software side of the car.

So the car spent the whole day at the workshop yesterday to reload the software in an attempt to fix the problem. Every attempt failed / crashed so the workshop kept the car overnight and may need BMW to attempt the update remotely.

Still at the workshop. Workshop had to order a new head unit is it "blew" following repeated attempts to update the software.

There was obviously something wrong with it in the first place. Better they replace it than try to patch the problem.

Got the car back today. New head unit and software loaded again. Now working as expected but lost all music from the hard drive, sat nav destinations, favourites and profiles. But very happy the car is now behaving.
