DPF Regen
A quick question on the DPF.
What parameters do you have to meet for the DPF to regen? I do motorway miles most days for around 30mins but quite often with traffic it is stop start, I have no idea how often it should regen or what I need to do to make it happen - so any advice appreciated! |

BMW's DPF setup seems to be among the more reliable - you very rarely hear or see of problems with less than 100k miles, even in cases where lots of town driving has been taking place.
As such, I wouldn't worry about it. You're best just leaving it to do it's own thing. I was curious, and asked for a diagnostic on my DPF condition at the last service (about 40k). Most of our driving is local, the car only does 5-6 proper motorway trips a year, and only 12k miles per annum. It came back as 26% used. So proper usage, regular motorway work - it's entirely possible that it rarely even does an active regen, and passive is enough. |
